Zyllem Malaysia is serving up same-day deliveries and a slick app experience
If you need to send a package in a hurry or need to make an extra dime, you’re in luck as Zyllem Malaysia’s stepped up to the game by augmenting their existing system with an app that makes it truly mobile.
Originally a Singapore start-up named Rocket Uncle, Zyllem sought to expand its presence regionally and changed its name last year to represent its business better. Zyllem is a homonym of xylem – the transport system of a plant for vital nutrients as it fulfills a similar function, acting as a system to transport vital goods throughout a network.
How Zyllem works is that it acts as a delivery facilitator, a kind of Uber of sorts for couriers. If you have a package to deliver, you can commission a delivery via their app, which is available on Apple’s App store and the Google Play store. If you’re someone with time on their hands or looking to make an extra buck, you can download another companion app for couriers, or as they stress it – delivery partners – so that you can take commissions for deliveries. This isn’t just for peer to peer use though as Zyllem also allows for larger scale deliveries and also has capability to act as a last mile logistics fulfillment provider for local outfits. In plain English, if you run an e-commerce platform, you can get them to send your goods to your customers in bulk. Costs vary based on distance, size and speed of delivery though Zyllem is committed to same-day deliveries.
According to Lauren Hendry Parsons, Zyllem’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Malaysia currently has some 1,000 delivery partners around the country that are performing a host of deliveries of all sizes every day and the number of partners is growing. While anyone can sign up to be a delivery partner, prospective applicants need to undergo certification and tests to make sure they’re qualified.
