Xiaomi’s humongous Mi Max 2 packs a titanic 5,300mAh battery and 6.44-inch 1080P screen
With dimensions approaching an actual tablet, Xiaomi’s newly launched Mi Max 2 is a massive affair in more ways than one. While the main draw is it’s large 6.44-inch 1080P display, the Mi Max 2 earns its moniker on account of its mammoth 5,300mAh battery. Combined with the efficient Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz octacore processor, the Mi Max 2 offers absurdly long endurance with a quoted ability to offer 18 hours of video playback time on a single charge. Better yet, that huge battery can act as a power bank and juice other smartphones too while Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 tech allows for fast juicing in the field.
The rest of the hardware is pretty solid as well with 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage, a rear fingerprint sensor, a 12-MP camera on the rear using a Sony IMX386 sensor with large 1.25-micron pixels for better low-light performance, a front 5-MP selfie camera and stereo speakers too. The Mi Max 2 with 4GB RAM/64GB storage retails for RMB1,699 (about RM1,058 ) while the 128GB version retails for RMB1,999 (about RM1,246) with colour options so far limited to gold at launch in China which will happen on 1 June 2017. There’s no word on when or if it will land in Malaysia but we’ll keep you posted.
