Samsung’s budget 7-inch Tab A 2016 edition looks like it’s just the right size (and price)
While all eyes are on Samsung’s most recent flagship phones, they haven’t been sitting idle on pushing their tablet range either. Their recently refreshed 7-inch Tab A slates come with the usual sheaf of upgrades – a better display, a beefed up processor and a slightly better camera over its immediate predecessor.
The slate comes with a textured, grippy finish in your choice of silver, white, or black while weighing in at 289g. For your money, in this case RM799, you get a 7-inch WXGA TFT touchscreen, a 1.5GHz quadcore processor running Android 5.1 Lollipop, 1.5GB RAM , 8GB of onboard expandable storage, a rear 5-MP snapper, a 2-MP front selfie camera along with a 4,000mAh battery. A microSD card slot lets you expand the onboard storage by up to 200GB and a SIM card slot offers LTE connectivity.
While they’re considered modestly specced compared to their flagship Galaxy Tab S series slates, the Tab A lineage has always been about bang for the buck and the 7-inch Tab A 2016 edition fulfills that ideal nicely with its hardware set that looks more than able to handle most mainstream tasks for those on a budget.
