Xiaomi launches Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite at Pavilion Mi Store grand opening
Xiaomi Malaysia has expanded their network of retail outlets in Malaysia with the launch of their latest Mi Store at the swanky Pavilion mall.
The official launch of the Mi Store at Pavilion mall also saw the brand launching their latest phones the Mi 8 Pro and the Mi 8 Lite in Malaysia.
Mi 8 Pro
Xiaomi’s latest flagship phone breaks new ground in terms of aesthetics as it integrates a faux transparent rear backplate that features stylised yet realistic looking depictions of the hardware within it and what it packs is substantial indeed.
Under the hood, the Mi 8 Pro has a Snapdragon 845 processor backed up b 8GB RAM and 128GB of non expandable storage. The front is backed up by a 6.21-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel along with a front-facing 20-MP selfie camera along with infrared facial unlock to access the phone. The rear consists of a dual 12-MP + 12-MP camera array with OIS, AI enhancements for better images and 2x optical zoom.
The battery consists of a 3,000mAh model rated for Quick Charge 4.0 support. Like other Mi series phones it lacks expandable storage and this time around, an audio jack.

Mi 8 Lite
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite brings a 6.26-inch Full HD+ notched LCD display with a 19.9 aspect ratio to the party. Under the hood, it runs Android Oreo on a Snapdragon 660 octacore processor built on a 14nm process with two storage configurations for the Malaysia market – 4GB RAM / 64GB or 6GB RAM / 128GB storage.
The rear sports a dual camera array with a primary 12-MP F/1.9 selfie camera paired up with a secondary 5-MP camera to capture depth details. The front has a 24-MP camera with AI enhancements to take selfies. Keeping it juiced is a 3,350mAh battery via a USB type C port that also has Quick Charge 3.0 support. Like other Mi series phones, it lacks expandable storage and this time around, it also lacks an audio jack.
The Mi 8 Lite comes in a mirrored finish done up in either Midnight Black or Aurora Blue with the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant clocking in at RM999 and can be acquired at both Shopee and Lazada while the higher end 6GB RAM / 128GB variant retails for RM1,299 and is exclusive to authorised Mi outlets nationwide.
