Lazada launches cashless payments on delivery with DuitNow QR

Cash on delivery is an age-old concept – they pass you the stuff you pay up in cash. Of course, now that we’re in the new normal, things are different. To that end, Lazada has teamed up with DuitNow to offer cashless ‘cash on delivery’.

What is Lazada and DuitNow QR Cash on Delivery payment?

The new cashless COD option offers added peace of mind and it’s simply a matter of clicking ‘cash on delivery’ at the checkout page of whatever you’re buying on Lazada and then scanning in the QR code tagged on the item you’re buying when it arrives to complete payment. 

There are, of course a few caveats. For now, the DuitNow option is only available for products fulfilled by LEX but this will improve and expand in future. At launch, Lazada shoppers can get a one-time RM5 discount with a minimum spend of RM30 with the promo code LAZCOD5 for their first DuitNow QR payment using the Scan & Pay feature in Maybank’s MAE app.

“With the nation continuing its efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, especially with the recent Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in multiple areas within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, most Malaysians today have grown accustomed to shopping online for everyday essentials and groceries. However, for those who are still new or uncertain about online shopping, having the choice of paying once orders arrive at your doorstep helps to give a sense of assurance,” said Rick Ting, Head of User Growth, Lazada Malaysia. 

Rick added that: “Enabling payment on delivery via DuitNow QR will further reinforce consumer trust in digital transactions, enhance consumer safety, and help increase the adoption of digital commerce. This new payment alternative is powered by Lazada’s ecosystem of DuitNow-enabled banks and eWallet partners.
