Redmi Note 12 series launched in Malaysia prices start from RM659 with up to 200MP cameras
Xiaomi Malaysia has just launched their new Redmi Note 12 series line-up in Malaysia that consists of the Redmi Note 12 base model, the Redmi Note 12 5G and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ that has the best powerful specifications out of the range including some eyebrow raising hardware like a 200MP camera with OIS.
Redmi Note 12 and Redmi Note 12 5G specs and price
Starting on the ground floor, the baseline Redmi Note 12 is intended as a sturdy 4G LTE capable workhorse sans 5G connectivity. The phone features a 6.67-inch FHD+, (2,400 x 1080 pixels) resolution display and up to a 120Hz degree refresh rate sheathed in Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The hardware powering the phone consists of a Snapdragon 685 2.8GHz CPU built on a 6nm process, 8GB LPDDR4 RAM for Malaysia with a 128GB of expandable storage. Interestingly enough, it even retains a 3.5mm audio jack.
Powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging and they’ve also thrown in a free charger in the box. Imaging duties are handled by a rear triple camera array that consists of a 50MP F/1.8 Super Pixel camera with pixel binning, an 8MP ultra wide angle camera and a 2MP macro camera while selfies are handled via a 13MP camera up front.
In Malaysia, the Redmi Note 12 with 8GB RAM/128GB storage retails for RM799. However, Lazada and Shopee has an online exclusive variant that has 6GB RAM/128GB storage that retails for RM699 but which is temporarily going for RM659.
The Redmi Note 12 5G is otherwise identical in terms of display, battery and cameras as the Redmi Note 12 baseline model but has 5G connectivity and a different Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor while supporting a larger 256GB of expandable storage. In Malaysia, the Redmi Note 12 5G costs RM1,099 inclusive of the 33W charger that comes bundled in the box. Both the Redmi Note 12 variants come in Onyx Gray, Forest Green and Ice Blue.
Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G specs and price
The most powerful of the lot, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G costs RM1,599 but brings an impressive 200MP F/1.65 camera into play with optical image stabilisation backed up by a more sedate 8MP ultra wide angle camera and 2MP macro camera. A larger 16MP selfie camera handles mugshot duties on the front.
Huge camera aside, you get a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and flanked by stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor with a 5G modem which is the very same one powering the Samsung Galaxy A34, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
Powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery with 120W HyperCharge fast charging. It even has a 3.5mm audio jack too. The chassis also has IP53 dust and water resistance too.
