New weekly Humble Bundle lets you shoot angry Nazis and demon worshipping supersoldiers
If you’ve missed out on Relic Entertainment’s delightful ensemble of real time strategy games, you’re in luck as the latest weekly Humble Bundle let’s you, assuming you’re insanely frugal, get your hands on a selection of their best games. For the low low price of entry of less than a cup of coffee, you get for your money the following:
– Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
–Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Game of the Year Edition
– Company of Heroes 2 – The Western Front Armies: Oberkommando West
plus –
– Company of Heroes 2 soundtrack
– digital artbooks for Space Marine, Company of Heroes and Dawn of War.1 and 2
If you chunk out and beat the average price which is, for now USD6.68, you can get:
Company of Heroes 2
Company of Heroes 2 – The Western Front Armies: US Forces
Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War II: Retribution
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
If you’re feeling generous and have a bit more cash to spare, you can hash out USD15 and get all the the above and the mini campaign Company of Heroes 2 – Ardennes Assault. Feeling magnanimous? You can pay US$30 and get everything including a Relic T-shirt that has an image of cut-out sprue with some of their most famous games depicted as miniatures on it.
While the deal looks good – there are some caveats. The Dawn of War 1 package you get is just that – the original campaign without any of the additional races so you’ll just get the original Space Marine campaign and full multiplayer with Orks, Eldar, Space Marines and the forces of Chaos. Ditto for Dawn of War 2 as you only get the Space Marine campaign in it starring the Blood Raven chapter’s equivalent of Commander Vanilla Ice with the funky hairdo.
The Oberkommando West package does offer multiplayer in Company of Heroes 2 with other factions though you do not have a campaign to go with it. You’re also only stuck with the Oberkommando West as a playable faction unless you ante up and pay for the basic Company of Heroes 2 game in the second tier which also unlocks the US Armies as a playable faction as a bundled expansion pack. The Company of Heroes Complete Edition fortunately comes with the original game and its expansion packs Tales of Valour and Opposing Fronts.
All in all, not a bad deal if you haven’t played any of the original games before. You better hurry though – it’s on only for the next 96 or so hours.
