vivo V40 Pro and V40 with ZEISS cameras launched in Malaysia; preorders start from RM1,999
Smartphone purveyor vivo have been leveraging their expertise in crafting camera phones with their collaboration in ZEISS resulting in a host of camphones across the range from the top of the line X100 Pro to their latest midrange camphone, the vivo V40 Pro and v40 that are now on preorders in Malaysia from RM,1999.

The vivo V40 Pro is the more powerful of both released phones, featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED 120Hz display protected by Schott Alpha glass and running the latest Mediatek Dimensity 9200+ processor paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM complemented by an additional 12GB extended RAM assigned off the onboard 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. Running under the hood is the latest Android 14 overlaid with vivo’s Funtouch OS 14 firmware.
On the rear, the vivo v40 Pro has a triple 50MP camera array built around a primary 50MP ZEISS F/1.88 main camera that has OIS, a secondary 50MP ZEISS 2X zoom telephoto portrait camera that also has OIS as well as a 50MP ZEISS ultrawide angle camera.
Up front, the vivo v40 Pro also hosts a 50MP F/2.0 selfie camera for mugshots. Both the front and rear camera are rated for up to 4K@60fps video capture. Powering the vivo v40 Pro is a 5,500mAh battery that has 80W wired fast charging. Of note is that the vivo v40 Pro has improved durability with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.

The more affordable vivo V40 has most of the hardware of the vivo v40 Pro albeit with a few key differences. The vivo v40 has the same 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and also has the same 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and has two storage variants with your choice of either 256GB or 512GB storage but uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor.
On the imaging front, the vivo V40 has the same 50MP primary and ultrawide angle ZEISS cameras along with the front-facing 50MP selfie camera though it lacks the 50MP telephoto camera of the v40 Pro on the rear. The vivo V40 also has the same large 5,500mAh battery with 80W wired charging and similarly durable IP68 dust and water resistance.
Both the vivo V40 Pro and vivo V40 both notably feature ZEISS Multifocal Portrait mode that digitally offers their 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm focal lengths for more pleasing portraiture, 7 different ZEISS bokeh styles to choose from along with their ZEISS CInematic Bokeh Video mode to capture more pleasing video withoval-shaped bokeh.
Content creators will also appreciate the v40 series’ ZEISS Focus Transition that offers effective rack zoom when filming footage.
Vivo V40 Pro and V40 price in Malaysia
The vivo V40 Pro will be priced at RM3,299 for its 12GB/512GB storage variant while the vivo v40 with 256GB storage is priced at RM1,999 and its 512GB storage variant at RM2,399. Preorders start from today and are ongoing until 30 August 2024 with a street date of 31 August 2024.
Customers who preorder the vivo V40 Pro from now until 30 August and plonk down an RM10 deposit will get a host of free gifts that include a DJI Osmo Mobile SE gimbal, a vivo TWS 3e wireless earbuds and a limited time warranty extension.
