New Acer FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds revealed at Computex 2025

Mention Acer and what comes to mind are likely their range of laptops and even their expanding range of home appliances like hair dryers and water filters but they’re going one better at Computex 2025 as they’ve revealed their new Acer FreeSense Ring smart ring and their new Acer AI TransBuds wireless translation earbuds.

At the beginning of this year, we saw a major shift – 2025 is becoming the year of AI applications and edge devices,” said Allen Jong, President, Acer Gadget in an interview at Computex 2025. “Earlier this year, we started defining wireless translation earbuds and wearables like the FreeSense Ring that are becoming the target platforms for AI applications which is the background behind the development of this FreeSense ring.

Jong added,”We believe that we will continue to see more and more edge devices, not just from Asia but from the global tech industry. All of these devices are helping us become more connected and informed, and are able to gather and share data in ways that bring real value to our daily lives – this is our vision for the future.

Acer Freesense Ring specs and price

The Acer FreeSense Ring is hewn from titanium alloy, has an IP68 and 5ATM water resistance rating and like the plethora of smart rings entering the market, is able to track an array of health biometrics including heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels and sleep quality or lack thereof with the results parsed through a downloadable companion app.

More importantly, the Acer FreeSense Ring doesn’t require you to fork out an additional subscription fee to gain access to all your data.

In terms of available sizes, Acer will issue the FreeSense Ring in 7 different sizes from size 7 to size 13 in your choice of either a matte Rose Gold or a shiny Black gloss finish. Of course, the cardinal question remains, why would Acer get into the smart ring market?

“Right now, there are fewer smart rings on the market compared to other wearables. That gave us a unique opportunity. We wanted to offer new form factors that help people experience the true value of AI in a personal and seamless way,” added Jong.

There’s no official word on price or launch date yet or if it will even enter Malaysia but we’ll keep you posted!

Acer AI TransBuds specs and price

As you’d likely surmise from its name, the Acer AI TransBuds are designed for real-time, two-way, AI-powered voice translations. The design needs to pair to a smartphone or tablet via a plug-in receiver and allows the user to follow translations in 15 languages in real time as well as experience live captions and transcriptions.

There’s no further details as yet save that the headphones will have a 50mAh battery while the charging case itself has a 400mAh battery to top up the earbuds in the field. At present, the headsets will be device agnostic and will work equally well with the major players in the smartphone market – iOS and Android.

“We explored various strategic approaches such as vertically integrated ecosystems but ultimately chose a different direction that aligns more closely with our core mission,” said Jong.

He adds,”Our goal is to design products that are both accessible and inclusive. The Acer TransBuds are made to be device and platform agnostic. This ensures broader compatibility and flexibility, empowering users to integrate our technology seamlessly into their lives.”

Like the FreeSense Ring, there’s no firm details on when or if the Acer AI TransBuds will come to Malaysia or how much it will cost but we’ll keep you in the loop!
