Acer reveals new Predator Atlas 7 gaming handheld revealed at IFA 2026
Acer came out swinging at IFA 2026 and revealed a slew of new laptops, gear as well as their latest gaming handheld dubbed the Predator Atlas 7 that includes a number of refinements for better performance and endurance while retaining the same capabilities as the larger Predator Atlas 8 in a more compact 7-inch chassis.
As a special surprise, Acer also revealed a concept device designated as the DualPlay Mini that has a flippable display and a keyboard, allowing it to function as both a gaming handheld and get some paperwork done in one chassis.
Predator Atlas 7 specs
In terms of hardware, the Predator Atlas 7 comes with a 7-inch FHD touch display with 100% sRGB, a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness that’s protected by Gorilla Glass Victus with an additional DXC surface coating for scratch resistance and glare reduction. Flanking the touch display are a pair of speakers with DTS:X Ultra spatial audio technology.
Powering the handheld is up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor running Windows 11, up to Intel Arc B390 graphics, up to 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to a 1TB SSD. Keeping it powered is a 4-cell 80Wh Li-ion battery. To keep the hardware cool, the Predator Atlas 7 integrates a dual-fan cooling system with each fan featuring 89 blades that are just 0.1mm thin to offer up to a 10% improvement in airflow over its predecessor.
Hardware aside, the Predator Atlas 7 features contoured grips, a larger palm rest area, recessed keys and a grippy texture to mitigate sweaty hands. It also has a built-in fingerprint reader, Hall-effect analog triggers and TMR joysticks for greater precision. At present, there’s no specific price or launch date but we’ll keep you posted.
What is Project DualPlay Mini?
To be clear, the DualPlay Mini is a purely conceptual design and isn’t currently intended for production. In essence, the DualPlay Mini has a flippable touchscreen up front that lets you use the DualPlay Mini as a handheld.
Where the magic happens is that the DualPlay Mini can open up to reveal a backlit keyboard while the display can flip a full 180-degrees, turning it into a compact laptop of sorts. There’s no exact specifications as it is a concept design but it is certainly an intriguing form factor that lets you both work and game on the go.
