When Apple launched the MacBook Neo earlier this year, Windows laptop makers were caught flatfooted at what was a decently priced, good looking gateway device to Apple’s ecosystem. The Acer Swift Air 14 and Acer Swift Spin 14 AI are both intended to take on the Neo head-on.Here’s our first impressions of both of their latest ultraportables at Computex 2026.

What is the Acer Swift Air 14 (SFA14-131)?

At first blush, the Acer Swift Air 14 (SFA14-131) comes out swinging in the good looks department. This is easily one of the best looking laptops that Acer has ever issued and it looks wonderfully premium.

When held, the Acer Swift Air 14 looks and feels truly classy indeed and all the classic hallmarks of premium design matching Acer’s highest-end laptops are all present and correct.

A precisely cut CNC diamond-cut cover sports clean and smooth lines, a beautiful satin finish that comes in your choice sage green, frost blue, blossom pink or lilac purple that repels fingerprints nicely and svelte dimensions that allow for easy transport. The laptop itself is just 12.9mm thin and a relatively light 1.25kg, making it slim and light enough for comfortable all-day carry in a backpack or tote bag.

The Acer Swift Air 14 has 180-degree hinges that allow the display to fold flat

A subtle hallmark of premium laptops are its hinges and the Acer Swift Air 14 allows for easy one-handed opening with just a finger, flipping up all the way thanks to a 180-degree hinge. When opened, the Acer Swift Air 14 revealed a 14-inch WUXGA display (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) with a peak 350 nits brightness,  a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a quoted 100% srGB colour reproduction.

While the 100% sRGB isn’t exactly ideal for a content creator as it doesn’t fully represent a full colour gamut, it’s plenty bright and vibrant for movies and web browsing when we tested it on the Computex showroom floor.

The laptop also has a set of quad-speakers complemented by 3D spatial audio with DTS X:Ultra. While it was a bit noisy on the showroom floor, the speakers were more than loud enough to be heard playing through a few test tracks.

Up top, the display has a 1080P IR camera that supports Windows Hello authentication along with a physical privacy shutter. The camera also benefits from Acer’s PurifiedVoice tech that leverages AI-aided noise cancellation and better image quality through Acer’s PurifiedView tech, which makes it ideal for mobile workers or students who need to conduct regular video calls even in challenging scenarios like noisy cafes.

What is particularly interesting with the Acer Swift Air 14 though is its use of the Intel’s latest Intel Core Series 3 ‘Wildcat Lake’ hexacore processors that offer up to 40 platform TOPS and a dedicated NPU offering up to 17 TOPS for AI related duties including Microsoft’s Copilot+ AI.

That’s not all, the Acer Swift Air 14 also has up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to a 1TB SSD depending on region.and claims to have up to 19 hours of video playback off its 70Wh battery with up to 16 hours of web browsing which looks like it’ll come in handy on long transits on the road. Charging is relatively swift too off the 100W power adapter and Acer quotes that it can get a 50% charge in 30 minutes.

Beyond the display, the Acer Swift Air 14 also has a well appointed keyboard, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, fast WiFI 6E, a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-A port. While there’s no official word on Malaysia pricing or exact configuration, official literature has the Acer Swift Air 14 priced at just US$699 from launch which works out to about RM2,775 though this is speculation for now.

At present, the Acer Swift Air 14 (SFA14-131) is listed on the Acer Malaysia website but doesn’t have local pricing yet nor an exact launch date but it’s likely to be within the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted on any updates the moment we get them.

What is the Acer Swift Spin 14 AI
