Asus AMD powered Zephyrus G15, TUF Gaming A17 & A15 and VivoBook S14 M433 notebooks launched in Malaysia
Asus Malaysia and AMD today rolled out a host of AMD Ryzen 4000 series mobile processor powered laptops for Malaysians in the form of the new Zephyrus G15, the TUF Gaming A15 and A17 as well as the VivoBook S14 M433.
The ROG Zephyrus G15 is intended as an ultra-slim, highly portable, high-performance gaming laptop that’s ideal for creators and gamers alike while the TUF Gaming A15 and A17 are designed as durable yet reasonably priced gaming rigs with MILSPEC-grade durability. Last but not least, the new generation of VivoBook S14 M433 notebooks are designed for beautiful aesthetics with sufficient performance as daily workhorses.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 continues the brand’s lineage of crafting light yet high-performing rigs as it comes with a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD IPS panel with Adaptive sync and comes with an AMD Ryzen 7-4800HS processor paired with an NVIDIA GTX 1660Ti Max-Q with 6GB GDDR6 VRAM.
The rest of the hardware consists of 16GB DDR4 RAM with an 8GB stick soldered in and an additional 8GB in the notebook’s sole SODIMM slot. If needed, you can augment with up to 16GB for a maximum of 24GB RAM.
Storage is sorted out by a 1TB PCiE NVME M.2 SSD with two additional M.2 SSD bays to augment space if needed. To keep it juiced, the ROG Zephyrus G15 has a 76WHr 4-cell lithium ion battery that should offer a decent amount of endurance for work and gaming. Of note is that the ROG Zephyrus G14 is powered by Type-C PD so it’s a lot more compact and easier to charge in the field. It’s incredibly portable as well at a svelte 19.9mm thin and a relatively light 2.1kg carry weight for a gaming laptop.
In Malaysia, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 will retail for RM5,299 and will come with a free ROG backpack to tote it around too. Malaysia will also see a high-powered Zephyrus G14 first seen at CES 2020 that is slated for an imminent appearance in the near future.
ASUS TUF Gaming A15 and A17
Originally known as the TUF Gaming FX505 series but rebadged to the catchier sounding A-series, the ASUS TUF Gaming range is enjoying a renaissance of sorts this year with the power and affordability afforded by AMD’s new Ryzen range lending it a better performance envelope while keeping costs at a fair median. The TUF Gaming series renowned sturdiness has been retained and the notebooks are all MIL-STD-810H rated for durability so they’re more than able to survive the odd ding or dent in the field.
This time around, they’re shipping in nine possible variants that differ in terms of storage, what Ryzen CPU they pack, available storage, GPU and also what screen size they pack (either 15.6-inch (denoted by the A15 suffix) and the 17.3-inch (the A17 suffix) though all will have 144Hz panels.
The highest end variant will cost RM5,899 come with a 15.6-inch 144Hz 1080P display with Adaptive sync, a Ryzen 9-4900H processor paired with 16GB DDR4 3,200MHz RAM, an NVIDIA RTX2060 GPU with GDDR6 6GB VRAM and a 1TB PCIE NVME M.2 SSD though it also has a spare hard disk slot if you need to add in additional storage. Power is provided by a 48Wh lithium-polymer battery and regardless of variant, all TUF Gaming A15 and A17 notebooks in Malaysia will come in a shade of Metal Fortress Gray and ship with a free TUF backpack. All TUF Gaming notebooks are now immediately available in Malaysia.
Asus VivoBook S14 M433
The workhorse Asus VivoBook S14 M433 range comes at surprisingly reasonable prices this time around with a performance envelope intended for light photo editing and casual paperwork. The highest end variant clocks in at RM3,199 and only comes in Indie Black but has a 14-inch Full HD panel, an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U 3.6GHz processor, non-expandable 8GB DDR4 RAM and an a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD.
It also has a full suite of slots that include a HDMI 1.4, 2 USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and a USB Gen 1 Type C port as well as a microSD card reader. The VivoBook S14 is also rated for up to 11 hours of usage with a 49 minute charge getting you a 60% charge from a dry state.
The more affordable variant retails for RM2,899 and retains similar specifications as the higher end model save for the use of an AMD Ryzen 5 5400U 2.4GHz processor to save on cost. Fortunately you get more colours to choose from in the cheaper model with your choice of Gaia Green, Indie Black and Dreamy White. Both variants of the Asus VivoBook S14 M433 are available nationwide, ship with a free backpack and are pre-installed with Office 2019 which is a very nice bonus.
