New lean, mean and green 14-inch Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED laptop launched in Malaysia
On top of their range of affordable Vivobooks and mainline Zenbooks, Asus also makes business laptops too with the latest refresh of their ExpertBook series sporting OLED displays, greener credentials than ever before and an absurdly light chassis.
Dubbed the Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED, the new laptop is now available in Malaysia and is intended for business use though it can, of course, be procured for personal use.
Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED Specs
The enhanced Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED sports an ultralight chassis made of magnesium lithium alloy that weighs just 990g like its predecessors though it sports an even greener manufacturing process as it uses 70% post-industrial recycled metal that incorporates what they refers to as Thixomolding that makes the chassis more robust while wasting less energy during the manufacturing process and being faster to manufacture by 75%.
While it is greener and leaner, the laptop is still built to MIL-STD-810H standards of durability and can withstand shock, extremes of temperature and modest drops to the deck.
Shoehorned into its 16mm thin chassis is a 14-inch 3K OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, a tall 16:10 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate, a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1355U 1.8GHz processor with Intel vPro Essentials, 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, a 1TB SSD and Intel Iris Xe graphics. It’s also Intel Evo certified and is rated to offer up to 11 hours of battery life on a single charge. Asus has also managed to upgrade the cooling, adding in a dual-fan system that reduces temperatures by up to 27% when in use.
Seeing as this is a business laptop the Asus ExpertBook B9 OLED has an optional TPM 2.0 chip, a fingerprint sensor and an IR camera for biometric authentication. The 1080p webcam is also enhanced by AI for clear video while noise-cancelling tech ensures clear sound on both sides. In terms of I/O, they’ve kitted it out with the works including a pair of Thunderbolt 4.0 Type C ports, a HDMI 2.1 port and a USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 2 port.
