Powerful BMW XM SAV arriving in Malaysia in June 2023 with RM1.38 million price tag
The beefy BMW XM sports activity vehicle (SAV) with its innovative M Hybrid drive system will be arriving in Malaysia this coming June 2023 with units coming fresh from the group’s Spartanburg plant in the United States.
What is the BMW XM?
Powering the BMW XM is a plug-in hybrid drive with M Hybrid tech based on the 4.4l M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine, which makes it the first BMW M model to have one. The plug-in hybrid drive which has an electric motor in tandem with the internal combustion engine has the ability to deliver 489 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm off the latter.
The total powertrain output is rated for an impressive 653 hp and 800 Nm of torque with the ability to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Maximum speeds are capped at 250 km/h though the upgraded M Driver’s package offers 270 km/h and electric top speeds max out at 140km /h. If needs must, the BMW XM can go all electric with a maximum range of 88km off its 25.7kWh battery that can be fully charged in 4 hours and 15 minutes.
Up front, the BMW XM has a large kidney grille with a characteristic M horizontal double louvres with a pair of power domes above it along with sleek headlights with two separate modules for daytime running lights and low/high beam lights.
The silhouette features a sloping roofline to lend the BMW XM a commanding, masculine appearance while 23-inch M Light alloy wheels give it a dynamic look. On paper, the BMW XM spans 5,110mm in length while being 2,005mm wide and 1,755 high with a 3,105mm wheelbase. Storage capacity is rated for 527 litres that can be further expanded to 1,820 litres as needed.
The interior of the BMW XM is centred around a BMW curved display with a 12.3-inch information display and 13.9-inch high resolution control display that’s designed for efficient viewing of critical information on all driving functions at any point in time.
Those seeking entertainment will enjoy the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system. The seats have also been given plush treatment with vintage leather not only on the seats but also on the door panels and upper sessions of the instrument panel. Keeping things cool for passengers is active seat ventilation and 4-zone automatic air conditioning.
Modern tech conveniences include BMW ID for personalised settings, BMW Gesture Control, Comfort Access for automatic unlocking and the ability to use a compatible smartphone as a contactless key.
Additional features include Driving Assistant Professional, which includes features such as Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Change Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning, Front/Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Emergency Stop Assistant and Evasion Assistant.
The standard Parking Assistant Plus includes Reversing Assist, Lateral Parking Aid, Active Park Distance Control, and Surround View system. Other safety features include the Attentiveness Assistant, Acoustic Protection for Pedestrians and Active Protection.
External colour choices consist of Cape York Green, Carbon Black, Marine Bay Blue, Toronto Red, Mineral White, Black Sapphire and Dravit Grey with 4 possible internal interior upholstery colourways.
How much is the BMW XM in Malaysia?
In terms of pricing, the BMW XM will cost RM1,398,800 on the road without insurance inclusive of a 5-year warranty and service package with a slated arrival of units in June 2023. For interested buyers, monthly instalment plan for the BMW XM is available from RM16,698 based on an 80% loan with 7-year tenure.
