Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 Review – Tough, Magsafe-capable and cute casing tested
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 remains one of the most popular and slimmest foldables in the market though it costs a pretty penny which makes protecting it from the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune all the more important.
To protect my substantial investment, I ordered Casetify’s latest Impact case which comes with a number of improvements to accommodate the slimmer dimensions of the new foldable while adding Magsafe accessory support.
@hitechcentury We unbox our latest haul from Casetify where we got two sweet Casetify Impact Clear Magnetic Cases for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and a Magsafe wallet too! Toughened corners improve drop resistance and the camera housing has been reworked to accommodate large MagSafe accessories like the MagSafe wallet. Wanna go out without your wallet? This combo makes it possible! @casetify #hitechcentury #fyp #techtok #malaysia #manekineko ♬ original sound – Hitech Century
After taking it for an extensive field test across my regular commute for several weeks, here’s my Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 review where I share if their latest case is worth its rather substantial asking price.

Like other casings in their line-up, the case you require needs to be made to order. This requires you to select the type of casing you require for your exact phone model and to also specify what illustrations you’d like on the case itself on their official website.
In the case of my Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 review sample, I picked two Impact case designs with Japanese lucky cat illustrations for my Fold7 and another different looking design for a colleague who had just upgraded to the same model.

On closer inspection, Casetify has improved on their casing design in a number of meaningful ways from that seen in the Galaxy Z Fold6 that we previously tested. The Impact Magnetic case features what they refer to as Impact Bumpers which are effectively reinforced corners and sides to minimise the risk of potential damage if it gets dropped.

The casing itself comes in two halves that neatly snap on to the front and the back of the Galaxy Z Fold7 with the front having a slightly raised lip to protect the display from most drops while the back has a raised housing to protect the camera array.
Of note is that the case now has an integrated Magsafe-compatible magnet that interfaces with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and allows for it to accept wireless charging accessories and also other Magsafe accessories like Casetify’s novel range of wallets.

This time around, Casetify has intelligently tapered down the lower portion of the camera housing protecting the rear triple camera array down to almost flush with the casing to accommodate the larger size of many Magsafe accessories. This is absolute genius and worked perfectly with the wallet case that my colleague ordered, allowing it to sit flush on the backplate and fully stick to the magnets on the case.

Improvement aside, Casetify has unfortunately eschewed from adding a hinge protector to protect the hinges of the Fold7. It is highly unlikely to land hinge-first but having a hinge protector does add additional peace of mind.
Features aside, my Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 review unit was easy to install and didn’t require any significant gerrymandering or adhesive strips to stay on, which was the case in early generation foldable case designs.

When held, it felt light though the nature of its design understandably added a slight amount of width and girth to the phone. Even with the addition of the casing, my Galaxy Z Fold7 remained pocketable without affecting ergonomics, a sentiment echoed by my colleague who had smaller hands but had no issue using her Fold7 one-handed.
Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 review – Is it worth buying?
Nothing beats practical testing and after a month of heavy use, the casing remained in pristine condition. During the course of testing over the last month or so, it was plonked face-up and face-down on numerous tables with varying levels of cleanliness from grease-sodden tabletops in our usual eatery to spotless marble surfaces in our usual coffee shop, and everything in between.

It was also slid repeatedly in and out of handbags and pockets several times a day and encountered quite a few liquids too from sauces, coffee spills and the occasional grease stains. Fortunately, the printing on the backplate of both mine and my colleague’s Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for Galaxy Z Fold7 review samples has not faded and stains were easily wiped off with a napkin.

Beyond its hard-wearing finish, the casings fulfilled their original function and kept my phone intact from an accidental face-down drop.

While it does not come cheap, the Casetify Impact Magnetic Case for the Galaxy Z Fold7 is still reasonably priced compared to the potential astronomical costs required to repair the phone if it ever breaks. If you want a semi-customisable casing that grants access to Magsafe support, this is worth a look.
