Compact Xperia 5 V now in Malaysia priced at RM4,999 with limited time free gifts
There’s still a certain appeal to compact phones and Sony is attempting to bring back the charm of a small form factor with their usual array of quality cameras and performance with their new Sony Xperia 5 V that’s now available in Malaysia with early bird free gifts if you get it before the end of 2023.
What is the Xperia 5 V
Pronounced as the Xperia 5 mark five, the phone itself is just 8.6mm thin while featuring a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 21:9 aspect ratio that’s sheathed in tough Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor running Android 13 paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage via a microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB cards.
On the rear, the Xperia 5 V has a 52MP F/1.9 primary camera with an Exmor T for mobile camera sensor paired with a secondary 12MP F/2.2 ultra wide angle camera with an Exmor RS mobile sensor. For mug shots, you get a 12MP selfie camera perched just above the display.
Keeping the phone charged is a 5,000mAh battery with support for USB power delivery fast charging and Qi wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging.
Other interesting features include fast WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity as well as a robust IP68 dust and water resistance. Unfortunately there’s only a black colourway for Malaysia though it comes in white and blue for other regions.
