Coolpad spearheading Malaysia debut with two budget phones

While the Coolpad brand name isn’t particularly well known in this part of the country, it has a rather distinguished pedigree in its part of the globe along with a history that spans over a decade with a global presence that spans the United States, India, Europe and Indonesia. Late last year, they made their first foray into Vietnam. They’ve even been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange too. Now, they’ve set their sights on Malaysia with the upcoming launch of two entry level Android phones dubbed the Roar Plus and the Sky 3 Pro with more powerful phones slated to come in later on in the year.

Sky 3 Pro
The midrange Sky 3 Pro comes with better build quality and hardware with a commensurately higher price. The front sports a 5.5-inch 720P IPS LCD display sheathed in 2.5D glass and comes with Android Marshmallow 6.0 on similar MediaTek MT6735 1GHz quad-core processor as the Roar Plus though this is supplemented by 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Both front and rear cameras have an 8-MP sensor though the rear has an F/2.0 aperture and the front has a larger F/2.2 aperture. What makes the phone stand out is its ability to have two chat apps at a time so you’re able to mount two Twitter accounts, two Whatsapp accounts and the like on just one phone. The Sky 3 Pro will cost about RM700 and ship in either grey or gold at the same time at the Roar Plus.
