New Dell Pro Essential 14 and 15 laptops launched in Malaysia; prices start from RM4,076

With the current ongoing memory crunch, laptop makers are scrambling to offer affordable alternatives which is where the new Dell Pro Essential 14 and Dell Pro 15 Essential laptops come into play.

Intended for businesses needing reasonably priced laptops, the new Essential range clocks in from RM,4072 and up depending on configuration which is downright decent seeing the obscene prices for laptops in the market these days.

On paper, the Dell Pro Essential 14 and 15 laptops are 11% thinner and 16% lighter than the previous generation. Panel options consist of an FHD+ non-touch panel with 400 nits peak brightness as well as a brighter 2.5K non-touch version with 500 nits peak brightness in a 14-inch size for the Essential 14 . For the Dell Pro Essential 15, you only get an 15.6-inch FHD+ non-touch 400 nits panel as a selectable option.

Both laptops feature a TPM module for enhanced security and also feature MIL-STD-810H shock and drop resistance. Like all Dell laptops, most of the specifications are configurable before checkout but the base units come with an Intel Core 3 100U processor maxing out at an Intel Core 7 360 processor, up to 16GB RAM and up to a 1TB SSD.

All versions of the Essential 14 and 15 rely on Intel integrated graphics. Combined, these specifications make any of the Dell Pro Essential 14 and 15 laptops effective workhorses for productivity and paperwork.

Both the Dell Pro Essential 14 and 15 are now available in Malaysia with the Dell Pro 14 Essential with an Intel Core 3 100U with 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD retails for RM4,072.

Slightly higher up the totem pole is a version with an Intel Core 5 120U with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD for RM5,160. At the top of the heap is a premium version with an Intel Core 7 150U with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD for RM6,775. All versions feature a 14-inch FHD+ display and use the same 41Whr battery as stock.

The base version of the Dell Pro Essential 15 uses the same Intel Core 3 100U processor with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD for the same price as the base unit of the Essential 14 at RM4,076.

Next up is a version with an Intel Core i5-1334U processor with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for RM5,026 while the highest end stock variant is an Intel Core i7-1335U with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD for RM6,179. An AMD Ryzen 200 processor is also an option in selected configurations.
