Explore Malaysia’s cultural hotspots with Samsung’s free Culture Explorer app
Mention the words history and culture and you’ll usually have the mental association of a dry pile of books to pore through but Samsung is taking an interesting new approach by launching their new Culture Explorer app that allows users to virtually explore and experience Malaysia’s cultural and historical hotspots as well as interact with these locations in exciting ways such as revealing useful trivia, local insights and more.
With the Culture Explorer app downloaded on a phone, users are able to conduct a virtual tour of a cultural hotspot via a 360-degree viewcam of the area. The app also has a gallery mode with images of interesting spots paired with in-depth descriptions to viscerally experience what each attraction has to offer. For those who are already at the venue or planning a trip, the app has a handy built-in map along with useful information like opening hours, ticket prices and the like as well as a GPS locator by way of Google Maps tied into it so you can find your way there. Essentially, it’s a personalised virtual tour guide. The app was officially launched on 28 July in Malaysia and officiated by Yang Berhormat Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
The Culture Explorer app is part of Samsung’s Culture.Connect initiative that is being championed by Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania that aims to engage the rich history and culture of each the region in exciting and meaningful ways.
