Ford Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL launch in Malaysia, prices start from RM127,888

Ford has expanded their line-up of pick-ups in Malaysia with the introduction of the Ford Ranger Platinum, Ford Ranger Sport and the upgraded Ford Ranger XL. To date, Ford remains the best-selling pick-up manufacturer with about 5.1 million Rangers sold across 180 markets within the past 20 years. 

On paper, the Ranger XL is intended as a workhorse for businesses and fleet operators while the Ranger Sport is intended for everyday performance. The Ranger Platinum acts as a premium offering that combines refinement with performance. 

Ford Ranger Platinum highlights

Up close, the Ford Ranger Platinum features the most powerful diesel engine of the range, featuring a 3.0L V6 turbo diesel engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission capable of offering 250PS at 3,250rpm and up to 600Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.

Some of its more premium features include a unique grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, a flexible rack system as well as exclusive interior finishes and an exquisite Bang & Olufsen 8-speaker sound system.

In Malaysia, the Ford Ranger Platinum is available in three possible finishes – Acacia Green, Meteor Grey and Absolute Black.

Ford Ranger Sport and Ford Ranger XL highlights

The Ford Ranger Sport is powered by your choice of either a 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel paired with a full-time 4-wheel drive system or 2.0L Turbo Diesel paired with a part-time 4-wheel drive system.

 

Other modern conveniences include 18-inch alloy wheels, an aggressive grille design with black accents, two-tone seats and a digital instrument cluster. Available colourways include Absolute Black, Lightning Blue and Meteor Grey and Arctic White for the 2.0L model with the Command Grey colourway only available for the 3.0L variant.

Last but not least, the upgraded Ford Ranger XL is intended as a dependable workhorse for businesses and other commercial users.

This time around, the upgraded Ford Ranger XL hosts a 10-speed automatic SelectShift which is a step up from the previous models’ 6-Speed Automatic transmission, offers 6 possible drive modes for superior off-road performance and features part-time four-wheel drive.

In terms of pricing, the upgraded Ford Ranger XL is available for RM127,888 while the Ford Ranger Sport 3.0L is available for RM159,888 and the Ford Ranger Sport 2.0L is priced at RM145,888. At the top, the Ford Ranger Platinum 3.0L is priced at RM205,888. All prices are on the road without insurance for Peninsular Malaysia.

The entire Ford Ranger line-up is available for booking at Ford dealerships nationwide. Customers who purchase the Ranger XL or Ranger SPort 2.0L by 31 August 2026 will get a free Ford Front 1080P Dashcam while those who get the Ford Ranger Sport 3.0L or Ranger Platinum 3.0L will get a free two-year Basic Extended Service Plan ( ESP).
