Malaysians will be able to order the phenomenal Galaxy Fold soon
The Samsung Galaxy Fold was first unveiled earlier this year but had a few hiccups that delayed its launch as they worked out the kinks in the design. After that was sorted out, the Galaxy Fold was available for preorders in Singapore and Korea sometime last month. The results were phenomenal and it was completely sold out in both countries.
Fortunately, you needn’t have to get scalped in order to get your hands on Samsung’s most powerful and unique phone ever made as the brand has stated that the Galaxy Fold will be up for preorders in Malaysia soon. Best get your plastic ready though as the Galaxy Fold were completely sold out on launch day when it was made available in South Korea and Singapore.
In Singapore, the Galaxy Fold was made available on 19 September and was the LTE variant in Cosmos Black and Space Silver with a retail price of SGD3,088 which translates to a princely sum of RM9,353. This sum did not daunt fans though as Samsung has claimed that ‘thousands’ have registered their interest to purchase the phone.
Things get even more impressive in the Land of the Morning Calm. The 5G version of the Galaxy Fold in South Korea originally retailed at 2,398,000 won (RM8,359) but jumped to an eye-watering 5,000,000 won which when converted is a ludicrously high RM17,430 when units were resold on eBay. In Korea, the initial batch of Galaxy Fold units were sold out in just 10 minutes on Samsung’s website while batches issued to Korea’s telco carriers SK Telecom, KT and LG Uplus followed shortly after.
Seeing the demand for the Galaxy Fold, Samsung has ramped up production and making more units available than they had originally intended to. According to local reports, Samsung is looking to ship around a million units of the fold globally for their second pre-order.
