Honda’s BR-V rolls out in Malaysia starting from RM85,800
Honda’s latest utility crossover has landed in Malaysia after seeing a successful debut in a host of other countries in Southeast Asia. Dubbed the Honda BR-V aka the Bold Runabout Vehicle, this robust looking ride is a locally assembled (CKD) affair with front wheel drive powered by a 1.5l SOHC i-VTEC engine with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) capable of kicking out 120 PS@6,600 RPM and 145Nm of torque at 4,600Nm.
Internally, it seats seven arrayed in three rows with the rear seats arrayed ‘theater-style’ with the rearmost seats tiered slightly higher for passengers to get a better view.
To wit, it is able to tote 223l with the seats up and an impressive 539l with the rearmost seats folded down.
While it has been launched earlier on in Indonesia, Thailand and several other countries in the region, the Malaysia variant has customised damper settings for local conditions as well as additional accoutrements lavished on it. The BR-V also comes in two different variants: the stock E which retails for RM85,800 on the road and the higher end V variant which costs RM92,800 on the road.
The base E variant sports fabric seats, air conditioning with vents in the rear along with four speakers spaced throughout the cabin as well as halogen lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and roof rails as well as daytime running lights (DRL).
The higher end V variant augments this with auto air conditioning, a push start button and smart entry system, leather trimmings to the steering wheel, gear knob, seats and other areas throughout the cabin on top of a 6.1-inch touchscreen, fog lamp and chromed door handles.
Both variants of the BR-V are available in 5 different paint jobs: an eye-catching Dark Ruby Red Pearl, Taffeta White, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and a new shade of Golden Brown Metallic. Buyers can also opt to trick out their BR-V with a Utility package that adds in a practical array of door visors, a trunk organiser, door protector film, sun shades and cargo tray lining for RM1,280.
A Modulo package that throws in a tailgate spoiler, front and rear lower garnish on top of several other aesthetic additions to trick out the vehicle is available for RM3,750. There’s also an Urban package that adds in a tailgate spoiler, running boards and side step garnish for RM2945. For more details swing by Honda’s official website here.
