Honeywell’s new mobile ScanPal EDA50 mobile computer looks like a phone
You know the old saying. If it quacks like a duck and if it walks like a duck, it is in all likelihood, a duck. Honeywell has just launched an enterprise device that they’ve dubbed as a ‘mobile computer’ which is essentially what a smartphone is these days.
The device, dupped the ScanPal EDA50 runs on a quaint Android 4.4.4, comes with a 5-inch HD touchscreen display, has a Snapdragon 410 1.2GHz quadcore processor paired with 2GB RAM and has 8GB of onboard storage expandable via a microSD card.
The rear camera has a 5-MP sensor and a 4,000mAh battery aims to offer all day battery life. The top has a built-in scanner, presumably for reading bar codes and the like and, like a phone, it has a SIM card slot as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. There’s no word on how much it costs but it is primarily for enterprise use so odds are you won’t exactly be seeing this available for sale at Lowyat Plaza anytime soon.
