Honor 10 arrives in Malaysia for RM1,699
Honor Malaysia today officially launched their latest flagship camphone the honor 10 in Malaysia at a grand launch in Kuala Lumpur. Their latest phone blends a slick looking mirrored finish, runs flagship class hardware under the hood and has an AI-enhanced dual rear camera array. The clincher is that the phone has a price tag more akin to a midrange workhorse.
In terms of hardware, the honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch FHD+ notched touchscreen display, a Kirin 970 octacore processor akin to the higher end Huawei P20, 4GB RAM and 128GB of non-expandable memory with the whole affair powered by a 3,400mAh battery. The base of the honor 10 retains a 3.5mm audio jack and uses a USB Type-C port to keep the battery juiced. Of note is that the phone has an under-glass fingerprint reader up front that helps to retain the slick aesthetics of the phone.
Externally, the honor 10 has a striking multi-layered glass laminate finish on the rear consisting of a whopping 15 layers of glass that reflects the light in a unique fashion. For Malaysia, the honor 10 comes in three different colours. Glacier Gray, a shade of Midnight Black and a unique gradient finish that exhibits a changeable colour gradient on top of the reflective effect dubbed Phantom Blue. Missing at launch for now is the Phantom Green gradient finish though it may make an appearance later on.
The rear camera consists of a 16-MP f/1.8 camera paired with a 24-MP mono camera with the phone combining data from both cameras to produce better shots as well as artistic looking bokeh snaps where the subject remains in focus and the background is artistically defocused.
The front comes with a 24-MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Where it aims to impress is that its cameras are augmented by the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) from the Kirin 970 processor, allowing for what honor calls AI-augmented photography on both the front and rear cameras.
When activated, AI mode allows for the cameras to accurately select the right scene modes from 22 available options and to make shots cleaner, brighter and more vibrant. There is also a 3D portrait mode as well that allows for users to capture selfies and portrait shots with unique lighting options akin to the iPhone 10.
All this makes the phone a compelling proposition for those looking for an affordable, good looking camphone. For Malaysia, the honor 10 is officially priced at RM1,699 and will be available at retail starting from 24 May 2018.
For a limited time only from 24 May till May 31, honor is offering an RM100 discount, knocking the price down to RM1,599. The phone will be an exclusive from hihonor.com/my and via etailer Shopee too.
