Honor Magic V3 Malaysia Unboxing – What’s in the box for units sold in Malaysia?
Ahead of the upcoming global launch of Honor’s titular flagship foldable the Magic V3 at IFA 2024 in Berlin as well as at the same time on our shores, we managed to get our hands on an early review sample for field testing and unboxing.
Much like our other prior experiences, what you get in the box will likely vary depending on region with more or less accessories though what we got is indicative for the Malaysia market. Here’s our Honor Magic V3 Malaysia unboxing where we share what they’ve bundled in the box along with a special bonus accessory that few other brands include in their foldables.
Honor Magic V3 Malaysia Unboxing – Green, Brown or Black?
When it comes to possible colourways, Honor Magic V3 Malaysia units will come in your choice of either Mossy Green, Classic Black and Silk Brown with our review sample coming in the aforementioned green.
While the phone itself is just 4.35mm slim when unfolded and weighs just 226g, making it the world’s lightest and slimmest flagship foldable at this point in time, its packaging and extras goes in the opposite direction and is almost as lavish as the premium Magic V2 RSR that debuted a few months back.
Regardless of colour, the Honor Magic V3 Malaysia units all come in a large black box that flips open to reveal the phone itself wrapped in a plastic sheath inset in a cardboard tray. Below the phone tray, you get three cardboard boxes, each inset into its own special cutout.
One box contains a 66W fast charger with a UK-style plug while another contains a USB-C cable. The last and largest box in our unboxing sample contains a protective casing along with a SIM ejector pin. The casing itself comes in two pieces with the rear portion fully protecting the back of the phone and, surprisingly, the hinge too while integrating a built-in kickstand around the camera housing. The front portion snaps on to the front cover display to protect the edges.
The casing itself shows their attention to detail and is colour matched to the Honor Magic V3’s colourway with our Mossy Green review sample featuring a matching coloured casing.
Just adding in the charger and the casing itself already bumps up the Honor Magic V3’s value proposition by several fold, seeing as many phones these days only come with a charging cable. However, Honor is looking to dial things up to 11 with their flagship foldable as preorders come with an additional piece of kit that is rarer than hen’s teeth for foldables – a Magic Pen stylus.
The addition of a Magic Pen stylus is a pleasant surprise with the Honor Magic V3 though whether it is a preorder exclusive or if it will be standard issue with retail units is uncertain at this point in time ahead of its retail launch in Malaysia.
The Magic Pen stylus itself is well built, sized up to the dimensions of a normal pen for comfort and features its own built-in carrying case with the pen itself done up in a matte grey finish with a rubber nib and a pull-out top that hides a USB-C port. Of interest is the fact that the stylus works with both the front and the main folding display too which is somewhat of a rarity as foldable phones are concerned.
For the uninitiated, the Honor Magic V3 is their latest generation flagship foldable and is, to date, the world’s slimmest foldable at just 4.35mm thin when unfolded and weighing 226g. Belying its svelte design, the Magic V3 is surprisingly durable with a redesigned steel hinge, a scratch and drop-resistant NanoCrystal Shield on the front display and a special fibre material for the chassis for lightness and durability.
Powering the Honor Magic V3 is the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with a host of Google Cloud AI capabilities including AI Eraser to remove photobombers, Circle to Do More when using its Magic Portal, live translations and more. Honor Magic V3 Malaysia units will come with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage with the aforementioned three possible colourways to choose from – Mossy Green, Classic Black and Silk Brown.
The rear hosts a triple camera array (50MP+50MP telephoto +40MP ultrawide) with a front facing 20MP camera for selfies. Powering the phone is a 5,100mAh battery with 66W fast wired charging.
