New Honor Magic V6 redefines flagship foldable durability; tows a plane and a Ferrari! Early bookings available ahead of 4 June 2026 launch
Foldable smartphones typically aren’t considered the most durable form factor as phones go on account of how potentially fragile the hinge is but Honor has handily upended that notion as they demonstrated the sheer durability of their Honor Magic V6 in a variety of torture tests at a nearby airfield in Malaysia.

Honor Magic V6 – What we know so far
In live demonstrations, the Honor Magic V6 was clamped into a frame and was then used to tow a Diamond DA42 Twin Star prop plane that weighs 1.25 tons an impressive 150 metres across the tarmac. Hitched behind a logistics vehicle and then to the plane itself, the Honor Magic V6 emerged unscathed and was able to repeat this multiple times without any damage to the hinge or the frame. The phone was also able to tow a Ferrari a good 30 metres too without undue effect. For good measure, the phone was also used to suspend the weight of an adult in a series of pull-ups in one demonstration area too without any damage whatsoever.
@hitechcentury We have seen plenty of claims for smartphone durability but Honor’s new Magic V6 foldable proves it with live demonstrations of their flagship phone towing a Ferrari and a plane too! Belying its durability, the phone is quoted to be 4mm thin when unfolded and just 8.75mm thin when folded. In fact, the phone was awarded a new Asia record for the ‘Heaviest Aircraft Towed by a Foldable Smartphone’.

According to Honor, the hinge mechanism of the Honor Magic V6 utilises what they refer to as Super Steel Hinge tech with 2,800MPa tensile strength that is rated to be double that of a car’s A-pillar and is rated for 500,000 folding cycles, equivalent to 13 years of daily usage.

In addition, the external display is protected by Honor’s Anti-Scratch Nano Crystal Shield which has a 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating and an impressive quoted 10x improved drop resistance and 15x better scratch resistance compared to the material used in the Honor Magic V5. Even better, the screen itself has been proven to withstand 27,000 cycles of steel wool abrasion testing which is impressive by any measure.

The inner display itself is protected by Ultra Thin (UTG). What truly trumps the competition here is that the Honor Magic V6 is the first foldable to have IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. Beyond this live demonstration of its durability, details are scarce thus far as to its specifications. We’ll keep you posted on updates.
