App Multitasking Pro Tip – Maximising and Mastering Huawei Multi-Window

Where most users will simply use one app at a time and perhaps swap between one or two apps, serious power users can take advantage of Multi-Window capability on Huawei devices including their smartphones and tablets for some serious productivity!

Here’s how to enable Multi-Window on your Huawei device:

  • Open up the first app you intend to use first. Let’s say you want to run YouTube and Google Docs in Multi-Window as an example. In this case, we pop YouTube open first
  • With YouTube open, slowly swipe inwards and drag the Multi-Window icon from the edge of the screen towards the centre and you’ll bring up the Multi-Window dock.
  • From here, select Google Docs – the app will initially appear in a floating window with a little blue bar, hold and drag the blue bar to the top and bottom of the screen to enable Multi-Window.
  • You can resize the proportions between either open app screen by dragging the bar up and down. You can also save this combination as a preferred Multi-Window shortcut so it will open both apps with just one button press next time
  • Alternatively, you can resize an app, such as TikTok or YouTube into a smaller picture-in-picture mode so you can work on the primary app more. To resize a picture-in picture app window, hold down on a corner of the app window and just drag to the desired size.

With Multi-Window, you’re able to run two apps simultaneously onscreen, with almost endless possibilities. Want to watch a video on YouTube while writing on Google Docs at the same time? Scrolling through TikTok at the same time as you’re texting your mates? Proof and edit a document and browse the web at the same time? Multi-Window makes it possible.
