Huawei Mate50 Pro aims to trump the competition with these 5 killer new features
Launched just a few short days ago in China, the new Huawei Mate50 series seems to be slated for imminent launch in Malaysia seeing as the brand has begun showcasing the Mate50 series in special consumer previews in the past several days at their outlets at the Gardens Mall.
Of course, a preview is not a direct indicator that a phone will be sold as it could be an exercise in gauging consumer interest though it’s looking more likely than ever than Huawei will be launching the Mate50 series in Malaysia as they’ve just released a statement sharing 5 killer new features that the Mate50 Pro will have.
While the broad strokes of what the Mate50 Pro will have are already out in the wild – a 6.74-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 CPU with a 4G modem running EMUI 13 in regions outside of China, 8GB RAM, either 256GB or 512GB of storage, a rear triple camera array (50MP primary with OIS + 64MP with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS and a 13MP ultra wide angle), a front-facing 13MP selfie camera and a 4,700mAh battery with 66W fast charging – there’s quite a bit of new tech that Huawei has crammed into their new phone that succeeds last year’s Mate40 series.

Since parting ways with Leica, Huawei has built on their own imaging tech and they’re issuing their new XMAGE camera system for the first time ever on their flagship Mate50 Pro. In broad strokes, Huawei’s new imaging solution combines both hardware and software to ensure superior imaging performance. This time around, the Mate50 Pro’s XMAGE system features a whopping huge F/1.4 physical aperture on the primary camera, a powerful Super Night Mode as well a professional Portrait and Super Macro mode for awesome mugshots and close-ups
Huawei Mate50 Pro – Fast 66W Huawei SuperCharge and Low-Battery Emergency Mode
If there’s one thing that everyone agrees on, it’s the fact that all of us need power fast and have it last for as long as possible in all of our smartphones. For the Mate50 Pro, Huawei has crammed in 66W fast charging for its 4,700mAh battery as well as a handy Low-battery Emergency mode that lets 1% stretch out to a 12-minute phone call or 3-hours of standby time.
Huawei Mate50 Pro – Slicker, smoother multitasking with EMUI 13
The Huawei Mate50 Pro runs the latest EMUI 13 firmware and is more efficient than its predecessor by stacking duplicate files, compressing less commonly used apps to offer up to 20GB of additional storage space. This is on top of expanding their prior efforts in the P50 series and prior phones by offering seamless pairing and multitasking with their MateBook series laptops and tablets.
Huawei Mate50 Pro – Tougher drop resistance with SGS KunLun glass
The Mate50 Pro is tougher than ever before as Huawei has integrated SGS Kunlun glass from the land of cuckoo clocks, chocolates and watches – Switzerland. On paper, this new glass is rated to have 10 times better drop resistance. On top of this, the phone also has IP68 dust and water resistance.
Huawei Mate50 Pro – Richer, more diverse AppGallery
Since its humble beginnings, Huawei has expanded their AppGallery with a bevy of apps and offerings that cater to most needs from banking to productivity and it has come into its own with enough offerings to meet the needs of all but the most finicky Malaysians.
When is the Huawei Mate50 Pro coming to Malaysia?
