Huawei Mate80 Pro to launch in Malaysia soon; preorders now live with free gifts

Huawei has announced that they will be bringing in their flagship Huawei Mate80 Pro phone which made its global debut in Madrid along with the FreeBuds Pro 5 wireless earbuds and the next-generation Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch to Malaysia.

In Malaysia, the last Mate-series phone was back in 2022 with the Huawei Mate50 Pro so its a welcome return to the local market.

On Huawei Malaysia’s website, the Mate80 Pro is listed as featuring a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED display that offers 2,832 x 1,280 pixels resolution with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1,440Hz PWM dimming, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, comes with 16GB RAM and a 512GB storage as the sole and standard configuration and has a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP camera with an OIS and an F/1.4-F/4.0 changeable aperture, a 40MP F/2.2 ultrawide angle camera and a 48MP F/2.1 macro telephoto camera. There is also an additional True-to-Colour camera that acts as sensor for colour accuracy.

The front has a single 13MP camera. Keeping the Mate80 Pro powered is a 5,750mAh battery with 100W SuperCharge fast wired charging and 80W wireless fast charging. Other key points include an IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance rating along with 2nd Gen Kunlun Glass on the front for drop and scratch resistance. Connectivity consists of 4G, fast WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.

Curiously, Huawei did not mention what chipset will be used with the Mate80 Pro for Malaysia, though if it’s the same phone that debuted in China, it will most likely run on their own in-house Kirin 9030 CPU with EMUI 15 and apps downloaded off their own Huawei AppGallery. 

Huawei Mate80 Pro Malaysia preorder details

Ahead of launch, Huawei Malaysia has already listed the phone as available for preorder with an RM100 deposit and a timer that, as of 28 February 2026 has an 11 day countdown. Those who pay the deposit and preorder will get the MatePad 11.5 Standard Edition with WiFi along with the Smart Keyboard for free.  However, there’s no listed price yet for the Huawei Mate80 though they did show that it will come in Gold, Green and Black Colourways.
