New Huawei nova 13 series phones now on preorders in Malaysia; three variants with prices starting from RM1,299
Alongside the flagship Huawei Mate X6, the brand has deployed three new nova 13 series phones which consist of the nova 13 Pro, nova 13 and the surprising addition of the nova 13i which is the entry level model which came out of the blue with the whole range priced from RM1,299 and up.
The top of the line Huawei nova 13 Pro is the best equipped of the bunch, with a 6.76-inch 1.5K Flawless quad-curved LTPO OLED display that has a smooth 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate housed in a chassis that has a IP65 dust and water resistance rating and a thatched textured finish on its green colourway variant while the white and black colourways have a more conventional looking satin black finish.
Official literature is scarce on what chipset powers the new Huawei nova 13 series but it runs their EMUI 14.2 firmware with access to the Huawei AppGallery.
The nova 13 Pro itself comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB of non-expandable storage, stereo speakers and a triple camera array that consists of a 50MP adjustable aperture camera with OIS, a 12MP telephoto portrait camera also with OIS and an 8MP ultra wide macro camera with the front featuring a surprising dual camera setup with a 60MP ultra wide autofocus camera and an 8MP portrait camera. Keeping the Huawei nova 13 Pro juiced is a 5,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.
The base nova 13 has a slightly smaller and completely flat 6.7-inch Flawless OLED display with a 60Hz-120hz refresh rate, runs EMUI 14.2 with 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB storage, has the same 5,000mh with 100W fast charging as the Pro model and has a different, pared down camera setup with a single 60MP front ultra wide camera and a rear 50MP Ultra Vision camera and 8MP ultra wide macro camera.
The base nova 13 also has a pared down audio setup and has a single mono speaker in the base. For Malaysia, both models have 4G LTE connectivity and have fast WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and NFC.
The new Huawei nova 13i is a bit of a surprise as it was only unveiled at the launch itself and what information was announced was scarce indeed save that it has a 6.7-inch display, an as yet but likely different chipset seeing its intended price point, 8GB RAM paired with 256GB of storage, a rear 108MP camera as well as a 5,000mAh battery with 40W wired fast charging.
