Huawei Watch 3 with HarmonyOS revealed with prices from CNY 2,599
In a global live streamed event, Huawei revealed their new HarmonyOS 2 operating system that will see service on their new smartwatches, phones and tablets along with a slew of devices powered by it including the new Huawei Watch 3 which comes in multiple variants with different materials.
The base model of the Huawei Watch 3 features a cold forged and hardened 316L stainless steel case that protects a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits brightness. A metal rotating and clickable crown lets you navigate the menus on top of the touchscreen. In this regard, it does bear some level of aesthetic similarity with the Watch GT 2 Pro but significantly beefed up in build quality.
Powered by their HarmonyOS 2, the watch has built-in speakers and has eSIM support at present with most of China’s major telcos, allowing it to function independent of a phone to make and take calls, stream music and also work for cashless payments though all this only works with banks in China at launch.
On top of these features, the Huawei Watch 3 features all the usual fitness tracking functionality in smart watches of its ilk with 100 sports modes on offer with half a dozen of them automatically trackable by the watch itself. It’s also able to test and monitor the usual blood oxygen, blood glucose levels, steps taken, calories burned and the like though it notably adds in a temperature sensor that helps to measure your body temperature.
In tandem with the new sensor, it’s supposedly able to flag flu-like symptoms for further action. The Huawei Watch 3 is also able to offer fall detection should the owner encounter an unforeseen mishap around the home and call emergency services. On paper, the Huawei Watch 3 is rated for 5 days of battery life in smart mode and 21 days in ultra-long battery mode.
