Huawei Watch Fit 4 series and new Watch 5 smartwatches with enhanced health management features coming to Malaysia
Huawei has officially revealed their new Huawei Watch 5 as well as their Huawei Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro wearables with all three slated to make their debut in Malaysia in the near future.
We managed to get our hands on an early preview of all three smartwatches which feature their latest health and fitness tracking improvements. Here’s how they all stack up on paper…
Huawei Watch 5 specs and price
The new Huawei Watch 5 is the successor to the Huawei Watch 4 that was launched in 2023 and comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes. Compared to its predecessor, the new Huawei Watch 5 has 2.2mm slimmer bezels across its display for both of its size variants, effectively offering a larger screen-to-size ratio along with brighter displays that offer up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
The design retains the signature watch crown that makes it resemble a premium timepiece but also adds in a distinctive new touch sensor on the side just beside the crown that they’ve referred to as the XTAP sensor.
Integrating three different sensors, the XTAP sensor in concept allows users to place their finger on it to get faster and more accurate health readings rather than relying on just the underside sensors that are typically in contact with your wrist.
Beyond the usual sleep and other health monitoring, the XTAP sensor allows for more accurate heart rate variability tracking, emotional wellbeing monitoring and more accurate blood oxygen tracking.
The watch also offers many of the enhanced fitness and functionality features including the new golf course modes, trail running modes with Huawei’s improved Sunflower positioning system as well as blood pressure and ECG and sleep monitoring.
Depending on variant, the Huawei Watch 5 series uses different materials though all are premium in nature. For the Huawei Watch 5 46mm variants, the purple and silver colourways use aerospace-grade titanium while the black colourway relies on robust 316L steel.
For the Huawei Watch 5 42mm, the Beige and Sand Gold variants use 904L stainless steel while the white colourway uses 316L stainless steel. All versions use sapphire glass on the displays for increase scratch resistance.
Up close, the Huawei Watch 5 46mm has a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 466 x 466 pixels resolution while the Huawei Watch 5 42mm has a slightly smaller 1.38-inch LTPO AMOLED screen.
