IKEA Malaysia champions sustainability; deploys new solar rooftop array at IKEA Damansara outlet

On World Earth Day, IKEA Malaysia commissioned 2,668 solar panels at their IKEA Damansara outlet which is capable of supplying up to 2 MWh of energy annually which is about 25% of the store’s energy needs while reducing carbon emissions by up to 1,330 tonnes annually.

To date, IKEA Malaysia has more than 20,437 solar panels installed across its facilities nationwide, generating 6.3 MWh annually. As a testament to championing sustainability, IKEA Malaysia has also expanded their electric vehicle fleet with a goal of ensuring that 100% of home deliveries will use sustainable transport solutions by 2030 and also was among the first retailers to phase out single-use plastics and was a pioneer for the transition to LED lighting in their outlets.
