Jabra Elite 85t wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation launched in Malaysia
The latest successor to the Jabra Elite 75t wireless earbuds launched last year, this year’s Jabra Elite 85t that’s coming to Malaysia brings a few interesting tricks too on top of better audio quality.
Intended as the best offering in their entire true wireless earbud range, the Jabra Elite 85t is intended to go toe to toe with the likes of Apple’s AirPod Pro and Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless II.
The biggest feature on the Jabra Elite 85t is its active noise cancellation tech which helps to nullify external ambient sound to offer a better listening experience. If you’re stuck on a long-haul flight or have to work in an area with a lot of background noise, active noise cancellation is a real lifesaver. You can also tweak how much external ambient audio to let through in subtle 3dB increments with 11 dialable settings rather than the usual all-on, all-off settings in competing earbuds.
It also has something that quite a number of the competition lacks – the ability to pair up to two devices at a time with it so you can pair it up to your phone and laptop and seamlessly switch between either one at will as the situation warrants it. That’s a huge time saver rather than having to laboriously pair and unpair it with devices that you would use on a regular basis.
In terms of design and hardware, the Jabra Elite 85t pack 12mm dynamic drivers which are double the size of the ones issued with its predecessor the 75t to offer richer audio quality. The earbuds come in a semi-open design to offer better comfort when donned for extended durations of time. It also has six microphones, four of which are devoted towards active noise cancellation duties.
In keeping with the competition the Elite 85t also packs 3 differently sized ear tips that you can swap around in order to get a better fit. Other mod-cons include AAC and SBC codec support along with compatibility with Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant.
There’s a few other interesting quirks with the Jabra Elite 85t. Unlike the IP55 rating of the Elite 75t, the 85t downgrades this to IPX4 resistance which means it’s sweatproof but not exactly something you’d take for a literal rainy day. This is still a notch above the competition as most other earphones in this range don’t have an IP-rating.
Jabra Elite 85t Battery Life
In terms of battery life, the Jabra Elite 85t is rated for 5.5 hours of use with ANC on, 7 hours with ANC off and a total of 31 hours of usage with ANC off and 25 hours with ANC on inclusive of the spare juice in the 500mAh battery in the charging case. The case itself also has Qi wireless charging too for added convenience.
