The latest Manulife Asia Care Survey 2024 reveals interesting facts about Malaysians and their concern for mental well-being as well as the prospect of critical illness.
Manulife Asia Care survey highlights
Conducted in March 2024, the Manulife Asia Care Survey 2024 polled 1,038 Malaysians and revealed that Malaysians lack confidence in reaching their desired level of long-term savings due to rising healthcare costs and the challenge of closing the gap between actual and desired savings that is impacted by inflation and healthcare costs.
When asked to look ahead to the next decade, respondents said that physical well-being is the most important factor to overall well-being (36%) and a determinant of financial (34%) and mental (30%) well-being. Manulife’s MyFuture Readiness Index which is integrated into the survey also measures how consumers view their current future physical, mental and financial well-being.
Malaysians scored 87 out of 100 but only had 73 for confidence in achieving that goal with the top three challenges being the rising cost of living (83%), economic slowdown (83%) and rising healthcare costs (82%).
This is exacerbated by healthcare worries with heart disease (55%) leading the pack followed by diabetes (48%), cancer (45%) and stroke (41%). Singapore surprisingly scored lower with 38%, 32%, 43% and 24% respectively. You can also check out Manulife’s page here.
