Marina Bay Sands showcases awesome Mixed Reality tech for virtual events
Seeing as the ongoing pandemic is still keeping borders closed and many people shying away from large events and conferences, it’s safe to say that the MICE industry and for the matter most public events are on a hiatus for the time being. Marina Bay Sands in Singapore aims to turn that around as they showcased their Hybrid Broadcast Studio that enables mixed reality events to take place safely for viewers, attendees and speakers wherever they are across the globe.
The Mixed Reality tech on offer is ambitious indeed with a live demonstration allowing a combination of both onsite presenters and a speaker halfway across the world to share a stage with a mixture of green screen and full-sized holographic tech that allows a full-sized man to walk, talk and present on a virtual stage over an LED wall backdrop. The effect is not unlike the holograms seen in Star Wars save being larger and a bit more vivid.
While attendees can simply tune into a live stream to watch the proceedings in an event, presenters going onstage will need to do a bit of extra leg work. The majority of the Hybrid Broadcast Studio is based in Singapore but participants who are going onstage from outside of Singapore and other locations need to step into an affiliated series of broadcast studios overseas with the tech to make the Mixed Reality presentation work.
“Marina Bay Sands has accelerated our adoption of technology to adapt to the new environment. We are providing a comprehensive platform for our clients to transit into the hybrid sphere successfully – using digital modes, hologram functionalities and now Mixed Reality (MR). By enhancing our studio with MR technology, event planners will now have an industry-ready solution to capture the attention and imagination of their virtual and in-person audiences. This will further increase delegate engagement and drive greater content and idea generation among key communities. It has also given us the opportunity to work with technology partners to add value for our clients and their events. This is the future of storytelling and we hope to continue inspiring the industry, driving digital transformation and elevating hybrid event experiences,” said Paul Town, Senior Vice President, Resort Operations, Marina Bay Sands.
It’s a promising step for a post pandemic future where air travel is a challenge and has already seen event organisers hopping on the bandwagon with Singaporean artiste Yung Raja launching his track in this fashion. Drop by www.marinabaysands.com for more details.
