Maxis sweetens the deal, upgrades a million customers with 5x more data
In light of recent events, Maxis’ efforts at winning back the crowd have gone into overdrive. Rather than price reductions for their call plans, their current strategy to placate the crowd is by offering more data and new ways to use it. As of yesterday, over a million Maxis customers from their MaxisONE, Surfmore50 and MaxisONE Business postpaid plans have enjoyed a permanent upgrade to their data quotas.
Maxis postpaid customers on the MaxisONE 98 plan will now enjoy 5GB of data over the original 1GB. Those on the MaxisOne 128 plan will enjoy 10GB of data over the original 3GB quota. MaxisOne 158 users will enjoy a generous 15GB of data over the original 5GB while MaxisONE 188 users enjoy a whopping 20GB of data.
Another interesting addition to their MaxisONE accounts are what they call DataPools, essentially a shareable pool of data that you can share with family or on other devices. This DataPool can also be used overseas on top of unlimited calls and texts with an extra 500MB of data per day when roaming though you’ll still have to fork out RM38 a day for the MaxisONE world roaming plan. The caveat here is that it only works in eight countries – Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, the Phillipines, Cambodia and Laos.
If you want to add more data or more users, you can top it up with a supplementary MaxisONE line for any device or user that adds 5GB to the pool for RM48 a month per line with unlimited calls and SMS.
The new plans also come with an additional 5GB monthly for free on top of the existing upgraded data quotas exclusively for video streaming on iFlix, Eros Now, Hopster and Viu. Those on the new MaxisONE Plan 128 and higher also get access to a free 15GB data per month just for music streaming on Spotify. All said, it’s a generous
