MSI launches AI-ready laptops and awesome new MSI Titan 18HX gaming laptop at CES 2024; coming soon to Malaysia

The annual Consumer Electronics Show is where the world’s largest tech brands showcase their latest offerings and MSI did not disappoint for 2024 with a huge showcase of their latest laptops that will hit markets in the near future along with the surprise debut of their Claw gaming handheld.

At CES 2024, MSI showcased a new generation of AI-powered laptops that take advantage of Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs such as the new MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo as well as a line-up of high-end 19-inch gaming laptops with 14th Gen HX-series processors and large vapour chambers for more effective heat management paired with the latest NVIDIA RTX 40 series GPUs that consist of the MSI Titan 18HX, Raider 18HX and Stealth 18 HX.

Common across the new lineup of MSI laptops is the inclusion of their MSI AI Engine that comes preinstalled which intelligently optimises settings based on what a user is doing be it watching movies, work or gaming to ensure optimum battery life and performance.

Out of the entire global line-up, MSI has confirmed that the Titan 18HX, the Raider 18 HX and the Prestige 13 AI Evo will be coming to Malaysia first with the other laptops arriving later on. Here’s a run-down of the more interesting offerings from MSI for 2024 including what will be arriving in Malaysia in the near future…

MSI Titan 18HX Specifications and Price

The massive MSI Titan18HX gaming laptop is armed for bear as their most powerful, full featured gaming laptop to hit the market. On top of its distinctive look and hefty 3.6kg carry weight, the laptop hosts an absolutely massive 18-inch UHD+ (3,840 x 2,400) resolution MiniLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 Certification and a tall 16:10 aspect ratio, making it deal for paperwork crunchers, gamers and content creators alike on account of its smooth refresh rates and exceptional colour accuracy.

It also hosts a hefty 6-speaker system tuned by Dynaudio that also has Hi-Res Audio support for beefier, richer sound when gaming. 

Powering the MSI Titan 18HX is the latest 14th Gen Intel Core i9 14900HX processor with the option to include up to a whopping 128GB DDR5 RAM via four RAM slots while the laptop itself can support up to two NVMe M.2 SSDs.

To tackle any game under the sun, it has up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU with 16GB GDDR6 vRAM though a variant exists with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU with 12GB GDDR6 vRAM. Combined, the MSI Titan 18HX with a top of the line RTX 3090 GPU and Intel Core i9-14900HX is rated for 270W of total power (175W with Dynamic Boost 2.0 for GPU and 95W for CPU).

The MSI Titan 18HX gaming laptop hosts an individually RGb-backlit SteelSeries keyboard with Cherry  keys for a superb gaming experience

Seeing as this is MSI’s premier gaming laptop for 2024, it also has a sweet full-sized Cherry mechanical keyboard by SteelSeries with per-key RGB lighting too along with a 1080p webcam up top with HDR and 3D Noise Reduction tech for clear streams and video calls. Keeping the whole affair powered is a 99.9Whr battery.

While there’s no exact launch date yet, prices for the MSI Titan 18HX start from RM21,499 and up in Malaysia depending on exact configuration.

MSI Raider 18 HX Specifications and Price

Another addition to MSI’s  stable of 18-inch gaming laptops is their Raider 18HX which is also slated for arrival in Malaysia in multiple variants from RM16,999 and up in the near future. Common to all configurations is an 18-inch UHD+ (3,840 x 2,400 pixel) resolution display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification and a tall 16:10 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, it hosts an Intel Core i9 14900HX processor with up to 128GB DDR5 RAM upgradable via four RAM slots and one NVMe M.2 SSD slot. All configurations also get a SteelSeries gaming keyboard with per-key RGB lighting, six speakers designed by Dynaudio spaced across the chassis and a 99Whr battery.

Variants for the MSI Raider 18 HX vary primarily in terms of what GPU they have with options for an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, 4080 and 4090 laptop GPUs depending on how deep your pockets go. 

MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo Specifications and Price

MSI’s latest ultraportable for enterprise looks rather fetching and is one of their first rigs to host the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor with Intel Arc graphics as well as a vastly lighter carry weight at just 990g. 

The Prestige 13 AI Evo comes with a 13.3-inch 2.8K (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) OLED non-touch panel with 100% DCI-P3 and a 16:10 aspect ratio for paperwork with a 60Hz refresh rate. The hardware under the hood is optimised for paperwork with up to 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and storage via a single NVME M.2 SSD slot.

Unlike the larger MSI Raider 18 HX and Titan HX, the Prestige 13 AI Evo has a more compact keyboard with white backlighting for corporate environments. Other mod-cons include a pair of 2W speakers and a 1080p webcam up top. The laptop also comes in your choice of two colourways – either Stellar Gray or Pure White with prices that start from RM5,999 and up.

MSI Sword 17 HX and Sword 16 HX Specifications

Where the MSI Titan 18 HX and Raider 18 HX are intended as their top of the line gaming laptops for gamers who demand absolute performance and power, the MSI Sword 17 HX and Sword 16 HX are lighter, more modestly specced designs for mainstream gamers out in the market while also being lighter too at 2.3kg for the Sword 16HX and 2.6kg for the Sword 17 HX.

In terms of hardware, the MSI Sword 17 HX and Sword 16HX are built on a similar framework with the primary difference being that the Sword 17 HX has a 17-inch QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) resolution screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 or 16-inch FHD+ (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB with the Sword 16 HX having similar 16-inch QHD+ and 16-inch FHD+ screen options with identical specifications albeit in a smaller size.

Common to both the MSI Sword 17 HX and Sword 16HZ is an Intel Core i7 14700HX processor, hence its designation, up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and storage via a single NVMe M.2 SSD slot. In terms of GPUs, both variants of the Sword series have options for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070, 4060 and 4050 GPUs depending on region.

Other features of the MSI Sword HX series include a 24-zone RGB-backlit gaming keyboard, a HD webcam, stereo speakers with Nahimic 3 audio enhancement tech and Hi-Res audio support as well as a 65Whr battery powered by a 200W charging brick. There’s no official prices or launch date in Malaysia yet but we’ll keep you posted.

MSI Thin 15 Specifications 

The MSI Think 15 aims to be a finely tuned blend of performance and portability enhanced with the MSI AI Engine that optimises settings based on what the user is working on at the time be it entertainment, work or play. In terms of hardware, the MSI Think 15 comes in a number of variants differentiated primarily by what GPU and GPU they have as well as storage and RAM.

Common across all versions of the MSI Thin 15 is up to a 13th Gen intel Core i7-13620H CPU, up to an Nvidia GeForce 4050 laptop GPU, up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and a combo option of a single hard disk and NVMe M.2 SSD. Keeping it powered is a 52.Wh battery and a 120W power brick with the whole affair weighing 1.86kg. There’s no official statement yet on when the MSI Thin 15 will come to Malaysia or how much it will cost but we’ll let you lot know the moment we get word.
