New Honor Pad X8a and X8a Kids Edition launched in Malaysia; prices start from RM699
Not everyone needs a paperwork crunching powerhouse like the Honor MagicPad 2 which is where more modest offerings like the Honor Pad X8a comes into the picture along with a specialised variant for younger users called the Honor Pad X8a Kids Edition.
Honor Pad X8a and X8a Kids Edition Specs and Price
The Honor Pad X8a is a budget tablet that weighs 495g and packs an 11-inch TFT IPS LCD with 1,920 x 1,200 pixels resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, features a midrange Snapdragon 680 CPU with a 4G LTE model that allows it to work away from WiFi hotspots, has 4GB RAM with an additional 4GB of virtual RAM and has 128GB of expandable onboard storage.
On the rear, the Honor Pad X8a has both the front and rear packing a single 5MP camera and the tablet has four speakers spaced around its sides. Keeping the Honor Pad X8a juiced is a 8,300mAh battery and ships with a charger too.
The Honor Pad X8a Kids Edition is otherwise similar to the mainstream Pad X8a with the same processor and battery size but is WiFi only, halves the storage with only 64GB onboard storage while retaining the same 4GB RAM and 4GB of virtual RAM and has a special Family Link feature that lets parents set time limits, lock the device and other management features.
Fortunately, the storage can be augmented with a microSD slot that supports up to 1TB cards in size. Seeing its intended audience, the tablet has an additional Kids Protective Case with a built-in kickstand and ruggedised for children as well as a bundled Drawing Stick stylus.
Both tablets are now available nationwide and the Honor Pad X8a retails for RM799 while the Honor Pad X8a Kids Edition inclusive of its case and stylus retails for RM699.
