OPPO F5 in Dashing Blue open for preorders

OPPO has a tendency to stagger out the releases of different colours for their phones in waves and this time around, the OPPO F5  in Dashing Blue will be making an appearance soon just in time for Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year.

The OPPO F5 in Dashing Blue is otherwise similar to its other siblings in terms of hardware and price bar the red F5 6GB variant that has more RAM and storage.

For your money, the OPPO F5 in blue has a 6.0-inch 2,160 x 1080 pixel touchscreen with an 18:9 aspect ratio on the front of the phone framed by slim bezels. The fingerprint reader is inset in the middle of the backplate.

Running under the hood is Android Nougat 7.0 on a MediaTek Helio P23 octacore processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. The rear 16-MP rear camera has an f/1.8 aperture while the front has a larger 20-MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

Of note with the F5 phones is what OPPO calls A.I Beauty that intelligently optimises beauty modes when taking selfies to be appropriate to gender. Powering it all is a 3,200mAh battery.

Where it differs, after a fashion, is that they’re also releasing a 10-minute vignette in conjunction with the release of the phone featuring celebrity Eric Chou and Min Chen to show how appropriate it would be as a gift for Valentine’s Day.

From 5 February until 10 February, OPPO is taking preorders for the F5 in Dashing Blue online at their website or offline at any OPPO concept store. There’s no word on price yet but the stock versions in gold or black retail for RM1,298.
