OPPO launches R9s Plus today for RM2,498

Most of the limelight on OPPO globally is on their new camera system that was launched at MWC 2017. In Malaysia, they are focusing most of the fuss on the upgunned R9s Plus phablet that has just been announced for sale today.

The R9s Plus is aesthetically similar to the R9s but has an improved processor, optical image stabilisation on the rear camera, a larger battery and more RAM.

For your money, the R9s offers a 6-inch 1080p 367ppi display versus the smaller but slightly crisper 5.5-inch 1080p 401ppi on the R9s, a more efficient Snapdragon 653 1.9Ghz processor of more recent vintage over the Snapdragon 625 2.0Ghz processor on the R9s, 6GB RAM and – here’s the kicker – optical image stabilisation on the rear 16-MP camera that augments the bright F/1.7 aperture lens for even better snaps in low light. The sensor on both phones is still the Sony IMX398 that currently remains unique to the R9s amd R9s Plus. The front camera on both phones remains a 16-MP with an F/2.0 aperture. The R9s also packs similar VOOC fast charging tech and a larger 4,000mAh non-removable battery versus the R9s’ 3,010mAh battery that is charged by a micro-USB port.

Storage is identical at 64GB of expandable storage and the R9S plus will initially ship in Gold and Rose Gold starting today at all OPPO online and concept stores nationwide at RM2,498.
