Oppo teases Malaysia launch of R9s camphone
While Oppo has been dominating billboards with their F1S selfie-centric phone of late, they’re now gunning for the camphone market again with the upcoming release of their R9s smartphone that sports a rear 16-MP camera with a host of impressive hardware to make it an impressive shooter indeed.
In terms of hardware, what we do know of the Oppo R9s is that it comes with a 5.5-inch 1080P display sheathed in Corning Gorilla Glass 5, runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB RAM and has 64GB of onboard storage. The aforementioned 16-MP rear camera uses a Sony IMX398 sensor and is heavily upgunned as it comes with an F/1.7 aperture and dual PDAF to take great snaps as well as 4K video.
The front selfie camera is a more conventional but still impressive 16-MP snapper with an F/2.0 aperture. The phone comes with a 3,010mAh battery that has fast charging support.
In light of its arrival, Oppo has taken over multiple billboards across town with teasers for the new R9s but no firm dates have been set yet barring an arrival early in 2017.
They’ve also pulled in some major star power as they’re roping in celebrities like local sensation Fattah Amin, songstress Min Chen as well as an elusive silhouette of a top-billing celebrity to woo the crowds. More details as we get them.
