Previously we reviewed the Redmi Note 10 5G which had 4GB RAM /128GB storage but Malaysia will be seeing only the more powerful variant with more RAM. To wit, Malaysia will be getting just one variant of this model, Redmi Note 10 5G with 8GB RAM /128GB storage that will be up for preorders and an imminent launch priced at RM799.
For RM799, you’re admittedly getting a pretty good deal for what you pay for. You’re getting a 6.34-inch IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimension 700 processor of recent vintage built on a 7nm process and 5G connectivity. This is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
The rear camera is a modest triple camera array with a 48MP F/1.8 main camera, a secondary 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera with up to 1080P@30fps video and a front-facing 8MP selfie camera. Powering it is a 5,000mAh battery.
While our review sample had a borderline sufficient amount of just 4GB RAM, the retail versions that will arrive in Malaysia have a far more viable 8GB RAM that lets you handle app swapping and most tasks in a far more efficient manner. For RM799, this version is a far more viable prospect to buy for bargain hunters and will be available from May 28th with several freebies via Xiaomi’s official online stores on Lazada and Shopee in Chrome Silver, Graphite Gray, Nighttime Blue and Aurora Green.
Redmi Note 10S
The Redmi Note 10S lacks the 5G connectivity of the Redmi Note 10 5G model but has quite a few other perks that include a more vibrant and brighter 6.43-inch AMOLED display though it’s alas capped at 60Hz.
Under the hood, the Redmi Note 10S features a MediaTek Helio G95 2.05GHz octacore processor running the show with 4G LTE sans 5G connectivity . While several storage variants exist, Malaysia will be getting only one variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Unlike the Redmi Note 10 5G, the Redmi Note 10S has stereo speakers to make it better for entertainment duties and it also has IP53 splash resistance which lets it survive a shower or two of rain.
The rear comes with a somewhat similar camera setup to the Redmi Note 10 5G with a primary 64MP camera, a secondary 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor and the addition of an 8MP ultra wide camera. The front has a slightly better 13MP selfie camera. The phone also has a similarly sized 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. The Redmi Note 10S is slated for arrival from 21st May onwards in Onyx Gray, Pebble White and Ocean Blue on Xiaomi’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
