The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G is one of their cheapest 5G phones at RM1,599
5G connectivity for Malaysia is slated to arrive a couple of years down the road but current phones with 5G don’t come cheap. Samsung is aimed to up-end that as they’re rolling out the Galaxy A42 5G that’s one of their cheapest 5G capable phones ever at RM1,599.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 5G has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display that’s oddly enough pushing a lower resolution HD+ display at 1,600 x 720 pixels. It also has an in-display fingerprint reader for biometric authentication. This display is paired with a Snapdragon 750G processor that is accompanied by 8GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
On the imaging front, the rear has a quad camera that consists of a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra wide angle camera, a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth camera for bokeh effects. Selfies and video calls are tackled by a 20MP camera at the top of the display. Keeping the phone powered is a 5,000mAh battery juiced via a USB-C port. Other mod-cons include a 3.5mm audio jack.
