Samsung Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 launched in Malaysia

Samsung has launched the latest additions to their midrange Galaxy A series line-up dubbed the Galaxy A37 and the Galaxy A57 for the Malaysia market.

The successor to last year’s Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36, the new line-up features a number of hardware improvements across the board. While they seem similar to each other, both phones differ slightly in specifications and role.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 has improved Nightography capabilities

On paper, Samsung has optimised the Galaxy A37 for casual gaming and solid everyday performance while the Galaxy A57 features improved low light Nightography photography capabilities. Unlike other midrange phones, Samsung has guaranteed that the the Galaxy A57 and its sibling the A37 both get 6 years of OS and security updates. Both phones also get IP68 dust and water resistance ratings.

For those looking for improved cameras and especially low light imaging, the Galaxy A57 comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with 1080 x 2,340 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, features an Exynos 1680 processor and packs 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 is optimised for gaming

Running under the hood is Android 16 with Samsung’s own OneUI 8.5 firmware. On the imaging front, the rear of the Galaxy A57 hosts a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 5MP macro camera and a 12MP ultra wide angle camera. The front features a single 12MP selfie camera. Keeping it powered is a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging.

The Galaxy A37 has a similarly sized and specced Super AMOLED display as the A37, features a similarly sized 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging and also has a mostly similar camera setup as the Galaxy A57 save for the omission of the 12MP ultrawide angle camera. Where they differ is that the Galaxy A37 runs on the slightly less beefier Exynos 1480 processor and sticks to 256GB storage with your choice of either 8GB or 12GB RAM variants.
