New Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4 with head-shaking gestures revealed at Galaxy Unpacked 2026

Alongside the flagship Galaxy S26 series, Samsung revealed their anticipated Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4 that offer a more comfortable and refined design, battery sound performance, more robust Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and improved battery life across the board.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds 4 specs

The new Galaxy Buds4 series ditches the tall, narrow charging case design from the Buds3 series and opts for a flatter, square-shaped case like a chunky make-up compact. The earbuds have also been redesigned to make them more stable and easier to interact with while also offering enhanced comfort for extended wear. 

According to Samsung, they acquired over 100 million global ear data points to determine the average size and shape of people’s ears and ear canals and also conducted over 10,000 simulations to offer the most comfortable design possible.

Where the Pro and base versions visually differ is that the Pro features silicone eartips while the non-Pro  version features an open-type design that lacks silicone ear tips. Another key difference is the that the Galaxy Buds4 earbuds max out at IP54 dust and water resistance while the Buds4 Pro has slightly better IP57 dust and water resistance.  

Beyond aesthetics, the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds 4 now have larger 11mm drivers as well as wider tweeters and a bigger woofer to offer 24-bit 96kHz audio. Apart from improved drivers, the Buds4 Pro has larger 61mAh batteries for each ear bud and a larger 530mAh battery in the charging case. This allows for 6 hours of battery life on a single charge with ANC on and up to 26 hours inclusive of the charging case. 

The more affordable Galaxy Buds4 has smaller 45mAh batteries in each earbud and 515mAh in the charging case while offering 5 hours on a single charge with ANC on and 24 hours with the case.

The Galaxy Buds4 series all feature head gesture support that lets you accept or decline calls by nodding or shaking your head on top of voice controls.

Key to the improved active noise cancellation capabilities with the Galaxy Buds4 series is enhanced adaptive ANC/EQ that dynamically adjusts noise cancellation for bnased on the unique ear shape of a user as well as external ambient audiorather than defaulting to a generic noise cancellation profile for specific scenarios like airplanes or public areas.

Of note is the inclusion of voice-activated AI agents with your choice of Bixby, Google Gemini and Perplexity at launch so you can access AI features without having to access your phone though this works specifically with Galaxy series phones for now.

At Galaxy Unpacked 2026, Samsung announced that both the Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4 will come in black or white colourways with the Pro also getting a unique Pink Gold colourway.
