Samsung Galaxy M series coming to Malaysia as online exclusive
While Samsung is best known for their flagship Galaxy S-series phones like the recently released Galaxy S10 range, they’re also known for crafting some solid midrange workhorses too such as their Galaxy M series which debuted earlier on in India and Indonesia. Now, Samsung Malaysia has opened up a registration of interest page for the Galaxy M series on their official website.
While the page says it’s the Galaxy M series that’s coming, what’s displayed prominently on the page is the Samsung Galaxy M20. The Galaxy M20 is slated as a mid-range workhorse with a large display combined with a massive battery and has a 6.3-inch notched Infinity V display that has FHD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. This is paired up with the Exynos 7904 1.8GHz octacore processor and two storage configurations with either 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage.
The rear consists of a 13-MP F/1.9 +5-MP dual camera array with Live Focus tech for creamy bokeh and low light snaps while the front has an 8-MP f/2.0 selfie camera that uses the display as an ersatz flash. Other mod-cons include a facial recognition, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 5,000mAh battery with fast charge.
There’s no official word on price yet but the Galaxy M20, and presumably more of its siblings the Galaxy M30 and galaxy M10 will be released in Malaysia sometime soon. On the Samsung India webpage, the 4GB RAM/64GB version retails at ₹12,990 (about RM753) while the 3GB RAM/32GB version retails at ₹10,990 (about RM638). That works out to very agreeable pricing but it’s not usually a straight conversion as taxes and other costs have to be taken into account to reach a final figure.
