Samsung Galaxy Ring launched in Malaysia with 3 colourways; priced at RM2,099
Contrary to reports last year, Samsung has now brought their Galaxy Ring smart wearable to Malaysia priced at RM,2099 with your choice of Titanium Silver, Titanium Black and Titanium Gold colourways as well your choice of ring sizes with 11 size options ranging from size 5 to 15 to fit most wearers.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring is built from a titanium frame that has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating as well as 10 ATM water depth resistance rating and resembles a slim, featureless metallic band. Most of the sensors are studded on the inside of the band and as you’d surmise, the only way to read data captured off it is via the companion Samsung Health app from a paired smartphone.
Charging the Galaxy Ring is off a special charging case specifically designed to fit a particular Galaxy Ring size so you can’t swap it out with another Galaxy Ring case unless it is the exact same size. Battery life is officially rated for up to 7 days on a single charge before needing a recharge in the charging case.
In addition to being able to continuously monitor heart rate, skin temperature and movement, the Galaxy Ring is also able to offer cycle tracking for women, automatic walk and run tracking, sleep tracking with coaching capabilities to improve sleep quality and also give an overall Energy Score that gives you a bird’s eye view of your wellbeing.
The Samsung Galaxy Ring also supports gesture controls and if you pinch your finger with the ring on it, you can trigger the shutter release on a compatible Galaxy series phones’ camera. We teted different sizes of the Galaxy Ring on different digits though the best results were with the index and third finger. Assuming your motor skills are up to snuff, it can conceivably be used on your pinky too for pinch gestures though the most accurate biometrics, according to the official literature, are apparently derived from wearing it on the second or third finger.
Samsung Galaxy Ring availability
As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is now available in Malaysia priced at RM2,099 in nine size options and three colourways.
