Deleted post confirms Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 launching in July 2023 at Unpacked Korea
If you’re an ardent follower of Samsung’s Unpacked smartphone launches, you’ll typically notice that they’re held in the United States or Europe for the most part though they’re changing the script this time around for their next upcoming Unpacked event. In an official post that appeared for a brief time on Samsung’s Australia website and which was then deleted but noted by several international tech publications, Samsung confirmed that the next Galaxy Unpacked will take place on their home turf in South Korea.
What do we know of Galaxy Unpacked Korea?
To be specific, the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will kick off in late July 2023 at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, South Korea. And yes, if you’re up to date on your K-pop that’s the exact place that Psy waxes lyrical in his hit song. Holding it in late July accelerates their typical launch timing for their second wave of flagships which usually takes place in early August.
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will unveil its next generation foldable devices at Galaxy Unpacked in late July 2023 in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The Unpacked event will take place at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, an intersection where Teheran-ro, a hub for domestic innovative startups, and Bongeunsa, a millennial Buddhist temple, converge. This unique location offers the world an opportunity to experience the captivating blend of past, present and future that defines Seoul.
The deleted press release does not specifically mention that the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 will launch at the event but seeing the traditional Samsung gameplan, it’s almost all but certain that their next generation foldables will make their global debut here though the hint by TM Roh in his statement in the deleted release does infer that it will be a foldable phone.
“The foldable category embodies Samsung’s philosophy of delivering innovation that pushes boundaries to reshape the future of mobile experiences,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Hosting Unpacked in Seoul holds great significance both as it is a city that has become an emerging epicenter of innovation and culture as well as the foldable category.”
There’s no details beyond these top line statements nor are there any mentions of an exact launch date or time yet from official sources for Galaxy Unpacked Korea but we’ll keep you posted!
