New Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 series make global debut

Samsung has finally taken the wraps off their flagship foldables for 2026 as well as a new line-up of smartwatches at their grand Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London.

Taking centrestage is their revamped Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra that retains the form factor last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7, the new passport-sized Galaxy Z Fold8 that represents a new flagship foldable design and a refreshed Galaxy Z Flip8. Also sharing the limelight was the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and the Galaxy Watch9 series in 44mm and 40mm sizes.

All three flagship foldables also use the latest Android 17 with OneUI 9.0 with a commitment for 7 years of OS and security updates.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra highlights

While the naming seems baffling at first glance, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the true successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and retains a similar tall book-shaped form factor with upgrades to its durability, ultrawide camera, processor and most important of all, a much larger 5,000mAh battery while being 0.1mm thinner and retaining the same 215g weight.

Beyond refinements that make it easier and smoother to open and the aforementioned Flex Titanium tech that reinforces and helps eliminate the crease on the main folding display, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra hosts a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X (1,080 x 2,520 pixels) cover display and an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X QXGA+ (2,504 x 2,256 pixels) main folding display.

Both displays feature Vision Booster tech and a 1-120hz adaptive refresh rate. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 while the backplate uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

The phone features the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor paired with either 12GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage as well as a higher-end 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage variant. Keeping the phone powered is a larger 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging.

For imaging duties, the front and main display of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra each have a single 10MP selfie camera while the rear camera consists of a 200MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and an upgraded 50MP ultrawide angle camera. The older Fold7 has a similar layout but has a smaller 12MP ultrawide angle camera.

In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra clocks from RM8,099 and up in the Malaysia market with your choice of Graphite, Cream and Violet Shadow colourways as well as a Green Shadow finish as an online exclusive.

Galaxy Z Fold8 highlights

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s new wide-format flagship foldable which has dimensions resembling a passport. Intended for those who enjoy viewing content and want a more natural viewing experience for movies and games, the Fold8 has a 5.5-inch WUXGA+ (1,248 x 1,972 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X front display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate and Vision Booster tech as well as a tall 16:10 aspect ratio.

Unfurling the phone reveals a 7:6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X folding display QXGA+ (1,848 x 2,448 pixels) resolution, a generous 4:3 aspect ratio and 3,000 nits peak brightness as well as a 1-120hz refresh rate. Like the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset with 12GB RAM and either 512GB or 256GB storage as well as a high-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant. 

The front and main display have 10MP cameras for selfies and video calls but the main rear camera array consists of a dual camera setup with a 50MP main camera and 50MP ultrawide angle camera.

Keeping the phone powered is a 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging. In terms of pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold8 will be priced from RM7,299 and up in Malaysia with your choice of Graphite, Cream and Lavender colourways with a Pistachio finish as an online exclusive.

Galaxy Z Flip8 highlights

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the same design as the Galaxy Z Flip7 from last year but is slightly lighter at 180g and slightly thinner at 6.1mm when unfolded, making it one of the slimmest clamshell foldables in the market.

The front has a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 948 x 1,048 pixels resolution, 2,600 nits peak brightness and a dual camera array with a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra wide angle camera set in separate camera housings.

Flipping the Galaxy Z Flip8 open reveals a 6.9-inch FHD+ (1,080 x 2,520 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X foldable display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate as well as Vision Booster tech along with a 10MP selfie camera inset into a punch hole.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra, the Flip8 uses the Exynos 2600 processor paired with 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Keeping the phone powered is a 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 10W wireless charging that is otherwise unaltered from the older model. In terms of pricing, Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Flip8 from RM5,399 and up with Graphite, Cream and Pink colourways for Malaysia along with a Mint finish as an online exclusive.

Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 specs

This time around, Samsung has skipped the rotating bezels Classic design for the new Galaxy Watch9 series and sticks with 44mm and 40mm sizes.

Alongside the Galaxy Watch9 series, Samsung also rolled out a successor to last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra dubbed the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 that is intended for more active users.

Samsung’s smartwatches for 2026 all use the new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor and key features revolve around a host of new fitness and health features.

Common across the line is a new Daily Cardio Load Fitness Index that lets runners have an indication whether to push on or take a break based on training data in a workout, a fitness index based on a variety of biometrics to give you an idea how fit you are with suggestions and a heart health score on top of constant heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature and respiratory rate monitoring.

The new Galaxy watch line-up also has a Raise to Talk mode with your choice of Gemini and Bixby virtual assistants at your beck and call.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the successor to the earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra and features a slightly larger 1.52-inch display with 498 x 498 pixels and up to 5,000 nits peak brightness. Refinements in design have made the watch thinner at 10.7mm versus its predecessor’s 12.1mm thickness while packing a larger 800mAh battery. The original Watch Ultra only had a 500mAH battery. 

The Ultra2 is rated for 10 ATM depth resistance in fresh and saltwater which is double that of the mainstream Galaxy Watch9 series, IP69K dust and water resistance as well as MIL-STD-810H rated for shock and drop resistance.

Unique to the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the ability to work in ocean dives and the ability to track trail runs outdoors with route navigation and the ability to flag check points.

Intended for mainstream users the Galaxy Watch9 comes in 44mm and 40mm sizes with 5ATM depth resistance which makes the series more ideally suited for pool use along with IP68 dust and water resistance as well as MIL-STD-810H shock resistance.

The 44mm model comes with a 1.47-inch display with a 445mAH battery while the 40mm model has a smaller 1.34-inch display with a 390mAh battery.

In terms of pricing, Samsung is offering the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at RM3,399 and the Galaxy Watch9 series from RM1,499 for the Malaysia market.
